Devs basically abandoned it when they began development of their Battle Royal model of the same game... never updating their base game or even responding to any posts about bugs etc, but kept promoting their new one on the very same forum. Most considered this a pretty good sign of where the new game might end up, they weren't wrong, and folks dispersed!

Edit: Typo

magic the only decent community driven dev left after that it went to rat sh1t . A famous chinese streamer came one day and was exploiting hiding loot inside walls making un raidable bases and had a team of minions 11 or so on all day farming for him , that was the origional death of the game the devs did not act for weeks and all bases were being offlined until the playerbase rallied from all servers and kicked him off.

this was the start of the US/EU Vs China war

The devs sold out to another publisher and left without telling their player base, anything. It was a year later before anyone found out they'd abandoned us. They abandoned the game and left to build BR game that was too far behind all the other BR games released the year before and it flopped in the end without having to abandon it. Ideas from this community were trade for a new game under another title with basically the same name as this one.

It wasn't just to do with some Chinese clan.

Yes, the servers, practically all of them, were raided by a 13-15 man crew of Chinese hackers, that part is true. Many did leave because of that but, there were also players from across the pond who came here while the NA sleeps to offline raid. They still do. They don't want to build bases because they didn't want those raided in return. Not just the Chinese, Polish, Russians, players from Brazil/Spain/Portugal, Germans and even UK players. They think it's funny and that's about it.

He did fail to mention that long before that happened, the devs did a player/base wipe when they added the Pirate Camps and the ships w/o saying a word and many bases that took months, some years to build, were gone in an instant. A lot of hard dedicated work destroyed due to an update but, that's beta for ya. However, when the devs dumped out an unfinished 1.0 and split, that killed the game for the most part and is why it's dead, today.

Tell the truth and nothing but the truth and the truth will set you free.

It did have a lot of potential. It's a shame it was abandoned. See.... that's what I don't get... why a game with so much potential would get abandoned to begin with? I mean, if it's about costs..... there is always ways of reducing spending and even ways to increase revenue on a product. They could of reduced the dev team working on it to maybe a couple people just working on it in some 'spare' time. Reduced or even eliminate 'official' servers and just letting people make their own servers. Add purchase options in-game if they did keep an official server open.... something like a store you could buy supplies and add more cosmetic packages to the game which could be bought at their store. Create some paid dlc with some different ships or something. I mean.... if a game has great potential... isn't it worth the time to improve it? That's just my op ofc.

Eliminating the official servers will definitely kill the game, any game for that matter. No-one really likes playing on server run by another player since, there are no rules for the server owner to follow or, proper way to make them conduct themselves accordingly.

True enough. And, there are ways / things they could implement on those 'official' servers to make a little income on them.... certainly enough to cover the costs for hosting it I'd imagine. Even if they did have to narrow them down to only X number of servers. It's just sad they abandoned it altogether. I've seen so many people talk about how there aren't really very many 'pirate' themed games for MP that are interesting enough to play for long. But, this one had potential to be imo.

There's nothing else you could really do for this game other than, expand the map (it is kind of small) create another island with different resources to collect and new animals, etc...

It is sad they sold the game and took all the suggestions from this client base and put them in another game, that looks exactly like this one but, with the players ideas added into it. Everything in the BR version is exactly what we wanted in this one and the BR part could have been left out. The players would turn it into that, anyway. They used the BR title sell the game and to draw more players and what it done instead, was lose players for this game. :steamfacepalm:

So... there's basically another version of this game... what's it named? I'd be interested to check it out at least. Thx for a reply.

Check the store page and if you purchase it, you're a fool, it's dead too. :steamfacepalm:

i used to go by the nickname Captain roberts I did lots of guides , pvp videos for this game and fed the dev team all thier ideas. At the start it was an african themed survival with paddle boats and no real direction , I gave them the ideas for pirate ships , trader , treasure hunt , shipwrecks etc. The dev team used to engage really well & one day Magic elft it all went wonky and they sold up and scarpered.

they stole my intro from my you tube for thier new game "pirate simulator" & also many of the ideas I suggested for this into that.

The battle royale game was entering into an over saturated market , thier pirate simulator might do well but to be honest the base building and static sea fort suggestions I had for clans with pre fabs its evident they are doing this from the tutorial however they are taking or look like they are taking too much free thinking away from the player i.e Place cannon here add barrel there its false base building.

If they remade a sandbox from bottom to top with free crafting in a pirate setting it would be big.

Hell I would even help them

Final pvp video above but shows you how good the game was and pretty much still could be was alot of fun when it was populated
