What is the best Worms game to get into in 2024?
So, I've been looking for games to play on my work laptop, which has an Intel iGPU, since I leave my gaming PC at my parent's house while I'm at my apartment. I know the Worms franchise has modest system requirements, and I have fond memories of playing Worms Ultimate Mayhem (the 3D one) on my Bible camp's XBOX. Which is the "best" game, by fan consensus? I'd almost certainly only play solo against bots; if it has a campaign or puzzle mode, all the better.

I also have GeForce Now, for playing the newer games (WMD, Clan Wars, Reloaded, and Armageddon). Rumble is right out; I hate BR games.

By popular opinion, Armageddon is the best of the series (and the one with the most active players, no matter what time you play), although WMD is also highly recommended if you want a more casual experience.

I always go back to play Worms Reloaded when I have a friend to play with. I grew up playing that one and at the time it still had players. Now it tough waiting in a lobby for match that may never happen unless you have friends. WMD is alright but I never liked the feel to it. Armageddon is top dog but It was before my time and I never got fully into it.

If you like reloaded I don't have a problem with it (it's one of my favorites) I used to play it pirated, although be careful with the Armageddon purists who start to annoy you because you like reloaded.

I'd say WMD is best right now, It's an old good worms with new features and graphics. I liked Worms Revolution objects and water physics but the game was pretty much dead back then, dunno if it still is.

Just buy this one, Don't hear those people that say the Worms Armaggedon is better...

I already own Worms WMD but haven't played it much, and I've decided as a result of this stream that it's what I'll play. At some point, I'm currently (re)discovering a love for digital board games like Dominion and Risk, and open-world RPG's like Zelda:BotW and MH:World.

A question: how well does this game handle iGPU's? And should I use a controller or a MKB?

it depends

If you go for competetive online worms gameplay: Worms Armageddon is the only option

However for more "casual" fun WMD is a lot better !
better graphics , better weapon variety , crafting , vehicles just overall a lot more variety

Casual is definitely how I'd be playing. Either against bots, or a campaign / puzzle mode if it has it.

Assuming you want to play multiplayer/skirmish (I have no real opinion on single player content in Worms games)

If you play with mouse and keyboard and you want the classic Worms experience get Armaggeddon (Worms World Party was my favorite growing up but the Remastered is apparently really bad while Worms Armaggeddon was updated a few years ago to make it work even better).

If you play with a controller get Worms Reloaded for the classic feel, but if you want something more modern, then WMD is probably a good choice.

Definitely avoid Worms Revolution/Worms Clan Wars unless you want something different. The class system really doesn't really spice up the formula as much as vehicles and the liquid physics add absolutely nothing.

Ultimate Mayhem is very interesting for what it was but I think most people prefer the 2D games overally.
