What's next for Worms?

Is there a new Worms game coming out any time soon? I love this series!

idk. I feel like the next worms will be a 3D one, I'll explain. It's not convenient for team17 to make a new 2D Worms, why? Because WMD is literally perfect, not because it's the best in the series, it's because they can sell it for $5 because it's a somewhat old game (it came out 8 YEARS ago ) and is modern enough to be playable on modern platforms PS5, Switch, Xbox. While 3D games are not that easy to play, Ultimate Mayhem (the most recent) can only be played on PS3, XBLA (this one will close next year lol) and Steam, the only one accessible versions are Xbox through the retrocompatibility and Steam and also with the worms rumble nonsense everyone wants to see the new redesign of the worms (oh my god I hope they redesign the worms, I don't want to be confused when playing fortnite turn-based).

As of right now there is no official word about a new Worms title.

They did say prior to WMDs launch that this would be the last Worms title for a while, but this has definitely been one of the longest gaps we have seen without a new game. So far, the biggest gap was between WWP and Reloaded. As of this upcoming summer, it will be 8 years since WMD released.

Personally, I wish Team17 would sell Worms to another studio.

Andy Davidson (the creator of Worms), left team17 after Armageddon due to creative differences (I'm sure you already know that), but he has been seen adding "updates" to WormsDC, which never came out. It would be interesting to see what would have happened if Andy had stayed. I don't know, considering that Armageddon was the peak of the saga.
