How to use the ingame/lobby chat & a very useful "secret" function
hey there,

so i don't know if you guys and girls know that and how many of you know that so i thought i'll make a short topic on this.

regading the ingame chat:

by now most of you might know that you can open and close the ingame chat on the fly with the "pagedown" button on your keyboard right ?! (if you didn't know this, please try it out ingame, its very usefull and fun to chat in between turns. to laugh together, to cry together, it just enchances the gameplay experience :D)

unfortunately if you open the chat you can't play the game because you can't use any other inputs like opening the crafting/weapon window, scrolling through the map, just about everything is blocked exept the chatting itself. normally you have to close the chat again to progress with playing

BUT

theres a solution for this. by chance i hit the wrong button today and found a new function :D

by pressing the button LEFT to the number 1 (on my qwertz keyboard its the ^ button but it will differ according to your keyboard layout) whilst the chat is open you can make the chat transparent AND play the game without closing the chat.

by making the chat transparent it stays open all the time and you can read all chat messages whilst normally playing the game. by clicking the same button again you can go back to the chat and write something. then click the button again and it turns transparent :D

most likely most of you didn't know this feature so i thought i'll share it in hope to see more ppl using the ingame chat :D

and whilst i'm at it, there is also a chat in the lobby window. to access this click the phone icon to the left corner of your screen with your mouse and it opens a huge chat window whilst being in the lobby and waiting for the game to start

best regards
mOnzun

edit: though i've to add that the chat window ONLY works in multiplayer games. in singleplayer games and vs. AI there is no chat window at all and therefore those buttons won't work

Moreover, you can whisper to a specific player by typing /w nick message and to your team mates by typing /t message. Write /h or /help to see all the chat commands
