My tip is to try placing it over the last worm which took turn. You could take further risk and set the fuze for two turns if you'd like.
Other than that, it can easily deal a lot of damage to a worm in 1v1 if the enemy already used their worm select. Depending on the damage threshold it can be worth it. You and the enemy can still try to knock other worms onto the present, so be wary of that.
The mine works better for this.
