WHat is the best 2d worms?

Hi! Like title says, what is the best 2d worms up there? what i would prefer:
1) as newest as possible
2) preferably a nice single player experience
3) 2d only
4) good overall experience

my last 2 games were Worms and Worms 2 so it was long time ago :D

W:WMD is the newest, but a lot of bugs

W+: Reinforcements is the classic; mechanics are the purest, graphics are the clearest (PIXEL-perfect) and just 2 exploits are known

The best game in terms of features, mechanics, community, and balance is Armageddon. WWP is close but nobody plays it and the remastered edition here on Steam is broken anyway. Graphically, Armageddon isn't that far off from Worms 2. However, Armageddon has had tons of updates over the years and it supports just about any resolution and has tons of quality of life features not present in any other game.

The only other game worth buying nowadays is WMD since it still has a player base. The other games are all dead multiplayer-wise, and online multiplayer is definitely the best part of Worms games. I wouldn't say that it has a lot of bugs at all, and most of the bugs are related to online multiplayer connection issues. In terms of actual gameplay, there's only a couple of bugs and they are rarely a problem.

WMD does have a decent single-player experience, but just as with all Worms games, the AI is stupid. Worms AI is either brain dead or a perfect aimbot that never misses.

Yeah, don't buy any Worms title for singleplayer, you'll be bored in no time.

Just 2 exploits...? Have you ever actually played worms 1? XD First off there is the extra go bug, then there is the replay bug where sometimes it will change the outcome and some worms will end up living ((sometimes dieing)), then there is the uzi/bazooka bug where if you had the uzi highlighted, but hit space fast enough it would combine the 2...ergo, an uzi bazooka. There is plenty more exploits, bugs and cheats that can be used to cheese it up in 1.

Also seeing alot of people saying WMD has the best single player experience, it does not. Welll.....SORT OF. They do some more things now, its nice to see them crafting and using more than one weapon, however saying this most if not EVERY GAME with the AI will go the same way, the same way it ALWAYS does. They cant navigate well around the map, they will mostly use the bazooka combined with wind speed to get PERFECT shots on you over and over and when they craft, its just gonna be bunker busters / airstrikes...same crap really, they just use some more weapons when given the chance. The AI imo is no different than how it is in armageddon, just with a bit more added.
