The only way to have a decent match in WMD is to either host your own custom schemes or be very careful about which schemes you join.
the game is pretty fair but OMG strike just ruins it , at least give a counter option like bring back invisibility or something
i'm about to win the match by my wits and superior strategy but none of that matters because the dumbass has OMG LOL strike and there's no strategy against this weapon...oh yeah great, i love having my time wasted like this
Btw, there is one way to counter the OMG Strike but it is very unlikely to happen -
Basically you would need your worm positioned in such a way that 2 vehicles are blocking the angle of the beam, one on each side and forming a triangle with the worm below. If you are perfectly in the middle and below 2 vehicles, their OMG Strike will hit the vehicle and not you no matter if they have it angled left or right. This also works with any "object" like a weapon emplacement, magnet, sentry, etc, but they are obviously smaller so the area in which you can hide without taking damage becomes even more small and specific.
So basically it's never gonna happen.
Everyone has their own idea of what is fun when it comes to this game, and unfortunately the vast majority of the players I have come across favor lots of crafting, crafting crates, crates in general, powerful (even OP) weapons, etc. If you don't like OMG Strikes you have to host your own game in which crafting supplies are very limited and crafting crate drops are rare or do not happen at all. You also have to turn off normal weapon crate drops because people can get OMG Strikes, Donkeys, Armageddons, Banana Bombs, etc.
I personally like what they did with the Donkey in Revolution + Clan Wars. Instead of it dropping perfectly straight down it would bounce depending upon what it is coming in contact with. It wasn't 'random' per se because it did make logical sense but it also made it harder to use and not a guaranteed "I win" weapon.
Anyway, as I said, this game is probably the least competitive of all Worms titles if you ask me, and I have extensive experience with them all. I hate Worms Reloaded for a lot of reasons but it is more tactical for sure. As I said, if you want the best Worms game just play Armageddon.
instead of having a drone they could've just given us the rope of worms reloaded , that way at least it took some degree of skill and risk to move around the map
However, since there is no way to add crate drops for the crafted weapons like Triple Shotgun, Training Shogun, Minigun and Luzi, I had to give players a limited supply of starting crafted weapons, so the entire thing doesn't turn out too boring for playing. The original ideia though was to make people chase the crates and collect those weapons, but this is not possible in the current game. So weapons drops are limited to Shotgun and Uzi only. And it sucks. But some of the crafted weapons like the training Training Shogun and Luzi were given turn restriction, for end-game purposes as well. And I think I managed to make it work as an enjoyable experience.
I'm still adjusting things like starting HP though. Or turn time too (as a big timer can make things trivial for experienced players). Maybe make Uzi infinite instead and remove it from the drops, leaving only the Shotgun. Removing jetpack drops or entirely from the scheme. How many anti-tank mines players gonna start with, etc.
The main ideia here is exactly trying to build scheme where skill ceiling pretty much rules.
As people would not only need to have very good aim to land shots from very long distances, but also high roping/mobility skills to traverse the map full of oil barrels and mines. And also strategically use and take hold of mounted weapons to increase damage potential. But lots of things still need to be tested and adjusted for the better experience.
Anyways, I'm just sharing this scheme here in case anyone is interest in different ways of playing and somehow improve it. I also have another scheme that consists on "Shopping" with drones by the way. You probably can find me hosting one of these in the game at a later time.
