Save scumming is kinda lame though IMHO. It can be frustrating to play for a while and then die and have to start over but isn't that how video games should be? Screw this modern hand-holding easy crap. Besides, the single player campaign is insanely easy if you have played much Worms in the past. If you are struggling with the single player content you would get annhilated online.
Timer ruins the fun in offline play. As this is a casual game. I fully understand online multiplayer and why the timer is needed there. I've been casually playing worms since MSDOS.
@GAYELLIS your comments gay
LIVE. DIE. REPEAT. like the movie Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise best describes the frustration of playing worms.
And as i mentioned before even Starcraft 2 campaign lets u save progress and it is a well known bigger world wide game than worms. Most strategic single player campaign games will let you save progress. I'm not going to make a list but WORMS get with the times!!
Honestly I died like, only 10 times maybe, in the solo campaign. It's just too easy, without a timer it would be boring. The point is to think FAST.
You get plenty of time to think in the single player campaign. You can think during your current turn as to what you will do next turn with your next worm. You can then think during the AI's turn. You then have your own actual turn to determine what you are going to do and do it. You're just not thinking fast enough, I guess.
If the single player campaign allowed for savestates then people would constantly "save scum" by saving frequently and reloading their last save any time they make a mistake, which doesn't improve their skills so much as it merely just allows them to bulldoze through the campaign with minimal effort.
Without the precision the game would not work anymore. Then you would have no chance against a little bit better players.
You need a balance. But, there are so many weapons, some easy to use and some need skill. A nice variety.
The rope is the best tool in the game.
Also thinking time doesnt improve anything... I can spend a whole turn dangling on a ninja rope... THINKING WHY THE HELL CANT I GET UP THERE and without getting anywhere... my turn is over because of timer... but if i had unlimited time I'd eventually get where i need to be.
And if I could save before a swing then i could practice it more often without having to repeat everything else in the mission which again is most frustrating... to be put back to the start.
I can always think ahead but its the action that is required and it never plays out the same as I did in my head.
@BARAKA practice does not make perfect in this game... AI can kill themselves on some turns... meaning starting from beginning because I fail an objective. Getting all 3 objectives on 1 playthrough in a mission is MOST FRUSTRATING
I hate to be that guy, but 'git gud' seems to be appropriate here. Worms is all about practice and learning the game inside and out. Trust me, the missions are not that hard. I'm assuming that you are new to Worms?
