"Gotta pick a pocket or two"
and obviously none of the wa rehashes they tried to create really took off so it's fair to assume that none of the games are still populated on the online department.
BTW I have 155 hours in game and most of that is on-line.
also i don't count all the snooper lurkers on a wormnet. whenever i checked out the wn all i've seen is 1-3 users who connected through the actual client and were looking for some normal game. rest of that playercount you can pretty much disregard. those are the usual league people who only play among themself in order to rank.
wmd was pretty much dead on arrival. game now maybe gets a temporary boost for like 2 weeks top because of the sale. that doesn't save this game in a long run though.
Actually, there's a pretty wide variety of schemes that are played. Sure, certain schemes are hosted more than others (shopper, mole shopper, intermediate) but you can find just about anything. Also, even disregarding those on snooper, I've found W:A lately to be at least as busy as WMD, if not moreso. It just depends on what time of day you try to play / what timezone you are in. Also, I've barely seen people asking for TUS/TEL or whatever other league matches lately. People these days simply want to play and don't care about rank like they used to. Many old school players are highly inactive these days due to a number of reasons. I barely ever seen clan matches hosted anymore, and I think a lot of people post more on the TUS forums than actually play the game.
I don't feel like WMD was dead on arrival. It was pretty active for the first several months. I never had any issues finding a match. I eventually lost interest in playing WMD because there isn't enough customization options. Every game I play feels very much the same because of the limitations of the game, not to mention the fact that generally speaking, the WMD community seems far less creative than the W:A community, not to mention there's more casuals who just want crazy games full of crafting crates, vehicles, and big weapons.
