Disable parachute auto opening.
Could we have an option to disable the automatic opening of the parachute? Sometimes you press space right after it auto opens, closing it, and thus falling.

Thanks.

Why would you want the chute to be manual? It would still have the same problem, except it would be even worse due to being used to it automatically deploying in the overwhelming majority of schemes. One accidental double tap of the space bar and you're in the same predicament as before. I personally don't see a need for this option. It seems like it would be much easier to learn to not react too quickly, and press space at the right time... *shrug*

It wouldn't be a scheme option, but specific to each user. I don't think I would ever double tap the key.

same problem.
Just desactivate auto open... *shrug*

Why is accidentally pressing a button twice a concern guess what happens when you press the fire button twice with a bazooka you blow yourself up that a problem too what the actual fk

The probleme is NOT the same that is with Para. Simply Because the Bazooka don't shoot if you don't do nothing. SO Bazooka Don't Shoot Auto Exactly at a time that you Decide To Press button For Fire. Close arguing.
Make Cold down visual timer like with Grenade OR Turn Off Auto Open ! a Children can understand that.

There's a big difference between holding a key and pressing it twice. Unless you have some physical issue, it's close to impossible to hit the spacebar twice in rapid succession unless you meant to.

Also, giving the option wouldn't have affect you at all, don't act like your world would be turned upside down.

Either you quoted the wrong person or you have no reading comprehension. We're on the same page; I was commenting on skunk's BS reason against having that option. Accidental double key press, like, dafuq.

By the way, you have options to delay the parachute. That usage only applies to long falls where you are assured to be way past the automatic opening so it doesn't fix the exact issue you have, but in case you can get some use out of it I'll list these and demonstrate it in a short clip.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?edit=vd&v=Vvjxc3_DYB4

Option 1:
  • Keep an eye on your inventory, you need to be aware whether you have Shotguns, Uzis and Jetpacks or not and what weapon is selected.
  • If you have any, press F2 (x) amount of times with (x) being the amount of unique items coming before the Parachute in your inventory. Example: You have Shotguns, no Uzis, and a Jetpack, so you press F2 twice. In that situation, the Jetpack is the last item next to the Chute so make sure the notification bar says "Jetpack".
  • Go for your long drop. Press F2 when you want the Chute to activate itself.
  • Alternatively if you're out of time you can just jump and spam F2 accordingly while falling but that is much more prone to errors.
  • Personally I always make sure that I have no F2 item selected (which can mess up the hotkey presses) by pressing F1 before the first F2 press.

Option 2:
  • Go for your long drop.
  • While falling, open your inventory and move the mouse over the Parachute.
  • Left click select it when you want it to open automatically.
Option 2 relies on muscle memory and quick movement so it's not as reliable as option 1 but can be the better option if you're out of time and aren't fully aware of your inventory and necessary F2 presses. Another problem is that you can't steer your jump while the inventory is open.

Again, this doesn't fix the issue with pressing Fire a little too late after the Parachute opened automatically, but if you know your drop will automatically open the Chute before you actually want it to open then it's definitely something to look into.

Yeah, this is next to impossible to do. Especially since their cursor still bugs out and appears like half a second after you open the inventory. Using keys is easier, but not possible with pro chutes.

This game, while much better than any other Worms title (yes, that's my opinion), still uses way too many things from the past.

Chat, hotkeys are the main issues. Why not have a dedicated hotkey for each weapon? We could bind them as we please.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but in WWP, you could move while having the inventory open.

This is a result of console porting and directions acting as "menu keys". An option to disable this would also be welcome.

And third thing: When you're moving, on a chute, chopper, balloon, and a mine explodes, it breaks your input and you have to repress the key. This actually cost me a game, there's no reason for that at all.

Edit2: The lack of input while the menu is open is especially painful while trying to use a dynamite or other things while parachuting against the wind. Again, the use of keys is good, but not 100% reliable. Dedicated binds would fix this completely.

No it's really not, I've been doing this since the beginning of this game. Technically since the 3D games since some of them also allowed you to open the parachute from the menu.

I have to add that I don't have the issue with the cursor not being visible, but I usually go with the hotkey technique anyway.

I'd be down for that. I've kind of been spoiled by Source games and their scripting that allows you to rebind anything to everything exactly as you want.

Pretty sure you're wrong there.

I think this has been discussed a lot in the report forums. It's definitely a big and unnecessary issue that better be fixed sooner rather than later.

How do you hotkey the pro chute then?

F9 by default. Similar to F2 you have to know how many items you have that come before the Combat Parachute in your inventory. If the Combat Parachute is the only item you crafted then all you have to do is not have it selected, jump, and press F9 as soon as you want it to open.
Euphytose Apr 2, 2017 @ 7:36am
I should rebind F2 and F9 to other keys, but it would still be miles better to have specific bindings.
