Multiple Ninja Ropes?
I don't have this game (yet). Are there multiple different Ninja Ropes available? I don't like the Armageddon rope because it's way too powerful. Additionally, the "swinging" introduced in Revolution is awesome.

I'm under the impression that the standard Ninja Rope is Revolution-style while there's a different, Classic Ninja Rope available for those who want to play with the Armageddon-styled Ninja Rope. Is that correct?

No. The ropes are all more or less Armageddon style, with the variant ropes being faster, longer, etc. The standard rope is fairly similar to Armageddon. The wacky rope from Revolution is gone... thank god.

So it won't collapse under your worm? Can it be used to easily traverse the landscape anywhere? Or is it at least somewhat like an actual rope?

Yes, you can use it to get around pretty easily with a bit of practice. There's some annoying bugs about using the rope but in general it works fine. It's just more old school style than the rope in Revolution / Clan Wars.

Yeah. I don't like it that you can just use the rope to move around, instead of actually taking aim. It's not Worms-like.

What are you talking about? Rev/CW are the only Worms games to have that variant rope style. You can aim the rope of course but you can't re-aim while swinging around. I never liked that about the rope in Rev/CW... I thought it was cheesy. It also made no sense that the heavy worm is also the best worm to use for roping, but that's just me.

The Armageddon (and 3D one, too, but that's less problematic for obvious reasons) rope allows you to gain height by aiming at the ground, then using the rope as your support when you unreel further from the ground. It's not a "rope" at all.

Ninja rope would be great fun if it was actually to be used like a ninja rope and not like a magical beam of way-too-easy transport.

Well, seeing as how the ninja rope has always been more or less the same aside from the 2.5d games, it is obviously popular. In fact, without the 'indian rope trick' ninja rope, W:A would probably be dead today rather than pretty active for a 19 year old game. Also, the rope takes skill to use well in ANY incarnation of Worms.

Yea, but it's too un-ropey in some of the Worms. Mostly Armageddon. It kind of makes Jet Pack useless when you can cover more distance with the Ninja rope.

Umm no. The number of rope swings is adjustable. In the default schemes of Armageddon you have just 1 swing. In the ranked scheme of WMD you have 3 swings but Jet Pack is still faster and easier to use. Usually you can cover more distance with Jet Pack.

Perhaps that's the way it is. Just wish Jet Pack was the ACTUAL tool used to cover high distances and Ninja Rope would be its situational counterpar. That's the way it's in Worms 3D, barring the extreme tricks (which are more difficult to pull off than the 2D tricks).

Oh well. Guess this is the way Team17 does things. Can't even try to please everyone. Perhaps in the future titles we'll see all three Ninja Rope variants: Ninja Beam (Armageddon rope), Ninja Rope (Revolution rope) and Grappling Hook (Mayhem rope). Would love to see that.
