Is there any fix for the crash on placing tarot card?

I've been really wanting to revisit this great overlooked game, but going out of my way to collect the tarot cards was always a substantial part of the fun for me. Not being able to reap the rewards of meeting the criterion for the cards kind of ruins the whole thing for me...

I read that you can place them if you get a 2nd card. I was able to use the 2nd card (get souls from a distance), but using others (+5 HP and Speed) crashes the game.
Would really love to use them. Can't believe that a pretty large part of the game is just... broken. And there doesn't seem to be a solution.

I've found a solution, although not the best. The crash seems to be somehow related to the amount of gold you have. There is a program called Powermad Overdose from ModDB that restores removed cheats from the shipped game, which you can download here:

Load any save (I did mine in on a level select save) and execute the command: pkgold

You should now be able to place any cards, and have a ton of gold. It sucks to have to use a cheat to use the cards, but I guess I'd rather use the cards than not at all. Have fun!

It was happening to me, I collected more gold (About 2,000) and it let me use the cards without a problem.
