No Lock on?
The fact you start out rather weak and fighting being kinda clunky at the beggining is absolutely ok with me since this is a Rouge-lite game. I´m sure there are much CRAZIER Weapons and Movesets to be found.

But what absolutely killed it for me was the lack of a lock on ability. Its probably one of these Camera upgrades you can get later, which really underlines what one of the reviewers said:
" it comes off feeling like the game is intentionally kneecapping it's own controls just to have something to give the player later on."

In my Opinion the fighting feels less like a Devil may Cry or Ninja Gaiden but more like...
Lego Star Wars.:trolol:

Without being able to lock on enemys the worst enemy becomes the camera and that is always a bad thing in fast paced action games.

I mean this has been a basic game mechanic for 3D Action games since 1998 and now i´m supposed to get this as an UPGRADE?

Certain heads have lock on from what i've seen but there is alot to be desired when firing projectiles. Gun aiming is just so counter-intuitive that i don't use them.

The clockwork and B-DSS Knight heads are two i know of. Haven't actually found any other heads yet.

Certain heads have lockon though it is rather silly that lockon isn't part of the default controls with the heads granting improvements of it instead. One of my main dislikes with the game at present (that and its difficulty being extremely easy).

I agree, a dedicated lock-on function that auto-aims your attacks in the direction of the enemy would do wonders for the combat feel.

It's not ideal, but you can work around it by releasing the left stick/movement keys when you press attack- your character will auto-aim at whichever enemy is closest.

Wouldn't having a lock-on kill the ability to pull off combos on multiple enemies.

Not really, its more about focusing movement and camera on one target at will. you can still hit multible targets its just that the camera and your character keep looking at one target at the press of a button. (or not use lock on at all if thats your thing)

I see you play Dark Souls 2. Please go ahead and play without Lock on at all. You will find that Timing your attacks, keeping the camera where it should be and zoning (standing at the rright spot, looking in the right direction) will become alot more difficult. Atleast to most people i guess, but certainly for me.

HnS does snap to an enemy if you get close enough. Some enemies in DS are better fought without locking on becuase it allows you to evade better, and I think that's the intent here. Plus I do like the option of switching to attack something else even mid combo. You can even do this for something behind you. The pace of combat in DS favors locking on because the vast majority of encounters are against one To three opponents and its rare for you to get surrounded. If you do it's usually guaranteed death. In HnS is an easily manageable combat situation.

All that being said it comes down to preference. If you're invested in lock on for a third person combat game, it will require adapting your playstyle.
