enable DirectPlay
Right click the windows start menu icon and click "Search"
Type "turn windows feature on or off" and click "Turn Windows feature on or off" below "Best match"
Scroll down to "Legacy Components"
Click the "+" to the left of "Legacy Components"
Put a Tick in the box next to "DirectPlay"
Click OK and a window will appear, click close when done.
1) Open Control Panel
Click on Programs and Features.
Upper Left click "Turn Windows Features On or Off".
When the list populates find Legacy Components, you might have to scroll down.
Click the tiny PLUS to the left of Legacy Components.
There is Direct Play item in there and make sure it is CHECKED. Click OK.
2) Re-boot computer
3) After that Logon to Steam
4) Go to Steam LIBRARY
5) Click Delta Force: Black Hawk Down (1 click)
6) Right click: Properties
7) Choose ”LOCAL FILES”
8) Browse Local Files
9) Choose ALL local Files and DELETE them all
10) After you have deleted all ”Local Files” choose ”VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES”. It will start to download files again (33 files)
11) This same have to be made also for Delta Force: Black Hawk Down – Team Sabre. So repeat the steps 5 – 10. For Team Sabre it informed if I remember 39 files which it downloads again
12) After these steps for both Delta Force and Delta Force-Team Sabre has been made check also that file ”dfbhd” is runned on Windows 7 Compatibility mode. Might be that also the option ”Windows XP (Service Pack 3) works also Ok. Find the file ”dfbhd” from folder where all files are located and right click. Choose Run on Windows 7 compatibility mode. And ”Run in 640 × 480 screen resolution” is tagged and tag ”Run this program as an administrator”. I also choose ”Override high DPI display scaling behavior”.
13) After the change has been made for ”dfbdhd” file. Do the same for the file ”dfbhdlc”. Both these 2 files are located in the same folder.
14) After this has been made Compatibility can also be tested by pressing the link ”Run compatibility troubleshooter”. See link below.
15) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15078/windows-make-older-programs-compatible
16) This testing for compatibility went Ok to Delta Force Black Force down and there it started to test screen card resolution Ok.
17) Re-boot computer (just to be sure)
18) After reboot go to Steam and try to run both programs.
19) This was with Win 10. 64 bit. Intel Core i7. NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6 GB. ASUS X170 ProGaming
20) The reason why I had to do these ones bit longer way was that I started to get also ”Application load error 5:0000065434.
When I try to start the game it shows the graphics processor selection window, showing only the Intel 530 Graphics Processor. Then it goes through the video test and then dhbhd.exe crashes.
I tried the compatibility troubleshooter to no avail and tried setting compatibility myself to earlier versions all with no luck.
Any ideas?
