Secondly from level 2 onwards the Grey wizard gets so many in built power points per dungeon. Starts with 6 or something, this can be used when you have run out of Winds of Magic power. Once you use them they return next dungeon.
You can also get Orb's of Might with additional power in them.
So use your spare power pool when it's needed rather than blowing it all early on against something weak.

There is also Gear that has + 1 Power which adds to the Winds of Magic unless you roll a 1 on the d6 and get 0 and a chance of an encounter or more enemies.
Wizards have there remaining per dungeon reserve where other people have thier Missile Attacks.
if i get free points per turn should I always be using them in the corridors to heal the team as much as I can during turns between encounters?
