WTF?! Nobody is home! (Defender of the Crown)
In Defender of the Crown (Amiga)...

Three turns into the game I had roughly two knights and 40 soldiers in my home army. I went on a successful raid. Then at the start of the new turn my home castle was attacked and nobody was home! :squirtooh: 0 soldiers, 0 knights. Is this a bug?? This same thing happened three times in a row. I don't remember this game acting like this when I played it on my old Amiga.

I installed my AmigaForever Emulator and ran Defender of the Crown on it hoping to see if I could replicate this scenario. I played the game for maybe twenty turns. My home territory was never attacked because the AI knew my home was not vacant.

Interestingly, my home castle is in a different territory in the AmigaForever version; right next to Sherwood Forest. This of course makes sense when you follow the intro sequence. I also noticed the sound from the AmigaForever version was warmer. The Anthology music was a bit more tinny.

If you are planning on buying this for Defender of the Crown I would urge caution. :Uranium: It seems to have some changes made to it that cripple the experience. King of Chicago seemed pretty faithful. I have not tried the other games yet.

Same problem here!
After things like raids or tournaments, the campaign army seems to just go down to 0, even if no one attacked you in their turn.
This kind of thing is really making it difficult to enjoy the game... Help please?

I don't think they care. My original post was in 2014. :really:

My advice: Spend $10 and get Amiga Forever (Value Edition) at https://www.amigaforever.com and then you can play Defender of the Crown just like it you remembered it. :pwsword:

If you are thinking of getting this Cinemaware Anthology title on Steam, don't do it.
Been contemplating getting this before the sale ended, but this bug has really put me off as I was only really interested in trying Defender of the Crown. :evafacepalm:

EDIT: Should have clarified that I've played the NES version a long time ago but yeah...was curious about the Amiga version. :trolol:

So the amigaforever version is bug-free? Good to know!

Amiga Forever doesn't come with Defender of the Crown. It's just an excellent Amiga emulator. But you can download the original amiga disk images of Defender of the Crown and play them in Amiga Forever

I know this is two years old now since the last post, but having just gotten this collection, I'd argue if you want to play the Amiga classics, still get this so that you've purchased the games, then hunt down the ADFs of the amiga versions and run em in Amiga forever.
