Also not sure whehter you're responding to me or Ragnawind, but I presume you're responding to Ragnawind since he/she said "eroge elements". That said, nitpicking wording is rather silly.
And to find out just how bad the translation is.
Almost agreed. I'd like to point out that the reason Cho Dengeki Stryker sold better on steam was because of the larger audience size and not because it had the H-content removed. Just because the Adult stuff was removed to make the game sellable on Steam does not imply causality. While I'd like to look at percentage sale data to draw a more accurate conclusion, I can still safely assess that much of that result can be attributed to the fact that more customers frequent Steam than Mangagamer. Getting the word out, a tenet of advertising.
I also agree that the adult scenes are generally tacked on, but they do serve a more subtle purpose than the usual "fap material". They can drive home a "this girl is really mine" impression. Umm, it can enhance the romantic atmosphere by emotionally investing you. Very important for those darker stories where the bond can be broken in a moment's notice.
And if they haven't done any work to improve the translation for the steam release, I'd say to wait for a further discount on the game. I really like the artwork, but it would leave a bad taste in my mouth if I were to whole-heartedly support a company who undertakes an ambitious project to make a game "All-Ages" in a different language and then proceeds to cut corners. I swear, they could have gotten better results if they made the game All-Ages in Japanese first before converting it to English. But if you're going to take the straightest path, at least QC your work.
I usually buy stuff at -50% or deeper discounts anyway. I'd like to pick this up, but i probably will wait until it's like $5 or so, since it is a bit of a leap for me to put in $30 or even $15 for something like this that I'm not sure I'll enjoy -- and this doesn't even account for any issues regarding translation quality. If I do end up really liking it, what I usually end up doing is buying a bunch of gift copies (albeit at discounts) for various friends, especially for those who might not have bought it themselves at all.
You do realise that visual novel developers tend to just put in sex to help boost sales and add the eroge tag to sell to people who want to fap right? Have you played Dengeki Stryker? Deardrops? Fate stay night? Air? The novels revolve around the story not around the sex. If you honestly think that visual novels revolve around sex and are just fap material then you don't know what you're talking about. Unless the story revolves around sex and by that I mean sex happening around every 5-10 minutes then it's perfectly fine to have them cut out. Have you played the all ages version? If you honestly thought that the removed h-scenes killed the story just go google up porn. The story isn't about some dude getting laid. If you actually cared about the story then you'd realise that. Again developers just put it in there to help sell a few extra copies to people who want to fap. People like you.
So if it's no where near it then what's the problem? Hustler is all about the sexy. Most visual novels really aren't and they just tack it on. Look at GTA. If they didn't add the option to go to the strip club and give you the option to go home with a stripper then the game would still be fun. Yea they would remove some content, but that the same time it doesn't cheapen the gameplay experience unless you're buying the game to do that.
I remember Japanese companies were going as far as adding new routes and characters when releasing an all-ages PS2 versions of their games.
UPD: ok, I see they added new content instead of the deleted scenes, gotta check it out then.
Once the h-scene hits it's really just porn. If you've seen pornography it's that but with anime pictures. Everything before and after is the bonding.
Maybe that does not require visual novel H-scenes. But there are people who would like to have this content. And for which there is a +18 version.
And there are people who do not like the H-scenes or people who are not yet old enough for this content. And for which there is a All Ages version.
And that's perfectly okay.
The problem with people like you is just. You are wimps.
Pornography is a term can be interpreted widely. Since it's enough to see a person naked and already it is labeled as porn
(small note on the edge: Dance in the Vampire Bund is not porn.
Just because it contains nudity makes it not equal to porn)
And here's the problem I have with people like you. You really endorse almost everything as porn. And how you like it.
Woman is nude but the main points are obscured = Porn
Woman in underwear = Porn
Fanservice = Porn
Pantsu shot = Porn
Woman in bikini = Porn
And if it were up to you. Would you ban all the points I have enumerated completely.
And I really question myself. WHERE THE HELL IS YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PROBLEM.
Check it out as a nice gimmick.
You do not need it though. But be nice if it is included.
To each his own.
I mean, I complain not about the you would rather not H-scenes.
As long as you have the choice I see no problem. Only here you have not, thanks MoeNovel / Pulltop.
Oh and eroge are no fap material. Would otherwise be erotic books also Fap material.
