Crashes After Selecting Mission
Hello, I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me out with getting this game to run for me. I've been trying to get this game to work on and off for a while now to no avail and all the googling in the world isn't bringing any helpful information my way.

I have manged to get to the main menu by running it in Windows 95 compatibility mod, 16 bit colour, and 640 x 480 resolution. However whenever I tried to start a mission the game crashes on me. Checking the SYSDUMP.txt it gives me "This program has caused an access violation exception".

I haven't been able to get past this point, and its starting to really bum me out. I remember watching my uncle play this game as a kid, and then playing it when I got my first laptop (Windows 7, installed via retail disc) and having a blast with it.

I'm currently running Windows 8.1 64 Bit, if that helps.

Thank you if you can provide any help, or taking the time to read this.

I found this in the Blackhawk down forum, give it a shot and let us know if it works:

I read this and tried worked! A solution form @cboath11

Open Control Panel
Click on Programs and Features.
Upper Left click "Turn Windows Features On or Off".
When the list populates find Legacy Components, you might have to scroll down.
Click the tiny PLUS to the left of Legacy Components.
There is Direct Play item in there and make sure it is CHECKED. Click OK.

Sysdump.txt can be caused by many thing, some out of our control.
Ok, try deleting the txt file from game folder.
Go back to basic default settings and try again.

If it works change 1 thing then go play and see....
Sometimes it just don't like a high setting or something like that.
