Feature request?: Local co-op without splitscreen

Is there a way to play without splitscreen in local co-op? I can't find a setting to disable it, and the only way to play without splitscreen is, to my knowledge, online multiplayer. I don't want to have to buy the game a second time just to disable splitscreen. Both players are right next to each other all the time anyway so I don't understand why splitscreen even exists, let alone is forced without any real way to disable it.

On a different note, I noticed that joystick movement snaps to 8 directions and you always move at full speed. Are there any plans to change it to be more analog, so you can move in any direction and move at a slower speed by tilting the joystick just a little bit?
