Multiplayer?

For those that are playing this, I was wondering if people are actually playing online or not? I played this ♥♥♥♥ for years and would love to shoot some people in the face again :).

I have Windows 7 x64 and have not been able to get multiplayer working yet.

I have tried using the VON disabler, which is a bot that I guess disables VON ingame at lightning speed before it freezes..

I have also installed a couple different apps to replace the Novaworld multiplayer server select screen (which shows a dead page ingame and seems to be no longer available). Of those, there are 2.. The better one of those seems to be DF2Pinger, which replaces the ingame server select screen with a webpage stored locally, generated by the DF2pinger program (where you can add and track df2 servers).

In the Delta Force 2 Reunion page on facebook there was talk of also replacing a terrains file but I have found no further info about that.

I am able to run a server but I can't connect to any of the running servers on server select screen. Trying to join causes the client to freeze.

If anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

As of today the Novaworld server select screen is working again. Either it was just me getting a white screen before or their server is up again. There are no servers listed so I don't know for sure. Uninstalled DF2pinger and am right now using everything stock, no mods or patches. Disabling Cleartype helped make the novaworld server select page much more readble.

Tried hosting a game.. client froze.. Ran the Von Disabler.. Tried hosting a game... Worked! Not sure if the match shows up on server select screen but the von disabler does in fact work and does help fix freezing issues.

Hosted a match and it did show up on the novaworld server listing under Public Games!! Tried joining another game called TeamMedics... couldn't connect... gonna try running the client in compatibility mode and report back.

Compatibility mode did nothing and even though my game shows up in Nova lobby, it disappears after a couple minutes for no reason.

I tried contact Novaworld directly by messaging them on Facebook. If more of you do the same and request them to address the non functional multiplayer in DF2, we might be able to get an official fix. Till then I am throwing in the towel yet again. Also tried disabling my routers builtin firewall and/or forwarding ports for the game while hosting server. Same problems occurred.

Sad to hear. I too have Win 7 64 bit. Maybe ill bite the bullet and give a whirl at trying to figure it out myself. This was the first game I ever played online, and one of the first PC games I ever played.

It's funny too because, when I first got a PC when I was 13 I had Starcraft and Mechcommander, as well as this game. My mom had bought it for me and I thought it looked cheesy and stupid so I threw it in my closet for months before I got bored enough to try it. Once I did though, I ended up playing DF1 and DF2 for many years, more than any other game I have ever played. It would be nice to live it once more.

I got DF2 to work on my PC just fine. Didn't even have to tweak anything. As far as the multiplayer goes, there are no servers up at the moment, but hopefully I can test that out this weekend if somebody puts one up.

*Edit. MP using DF2Pinger that is. I don't have any IP addresses put in yet. Not sure if there is a list somewhere? But I read the servers are up more during the weekends.

Are you trying to play through Novaworld or DF2pinger?

Nevermind, I see it in DF2Pinger. When I Ping it though, it shows the server down below as a Red status icon, so I am assuming the server is not actually up, but the computer running it is still on.

Edit - Or maybe I am using the DF2Pinger wrong somehow. It says 5 population now instead of 6.

Edit - I was told I can't join because I need the dll file too.

I got the dll file I needed. It is working for me now, I am currently in a MP match.

The Facebook group Delta Force 2 Reunion can help out those that need it. I had to have someone send me a link for the dll file, and then tell me the stops to get in properly. If you have the dll file already... then click on the create playlist button next the df2.exe button in DF2pinger, and then click on the df2.exe. After the game opens go to Novaworld and then just click on the server you want.

If that isnt working still then it means your probably dont have the dll file you need. If you have the dll file and its still not working hit me up, or the facebook group.

After installing the X-Pack v2 (full installer) I ran the game through von disabler and installed nooby downloader (lobby replacement) and now it works. Awesome!

I assume all the servers that are up, are all based in north America or Europe?

I am Australian so I am wondering if it'll be bearable for me to play MP?

theres a few sites like dfbarraks and thegoodoldays that have a bunch of options to get it working,,, im not that great with comps but started a group to try and save the games and bring dfers togeather , check out the sites or group if ud like
