But I hope that SotA will deliver a great single player experience that is similar to the older Ultimas - especially Ultima 7.
I did but I can tell you it took a few weeks. Prolly one of the longest games I ever kept coming back to finish. It was a headache on many occasions.This was back in its old EA box form.
andreas I never played 9 for those reasons.
Best case scenario is that someone makes a spiritual successor and manages to capture the soul of what the original series was, even if they can't use any familiar names. That's what some people are/were hoping of SotA.
I am a huge huge ultima fan. I have played ultimas since the child hood days in the early 80s. I found joy in all of them even 9. Shroud of the Avatar will have an offline ultima like RPG. I hope this helps. :) Let me know of you ever want to play an rpg together. Have a good one.

OTOH I also pre-ordered UIX and we all know what that was vying with super avatar world(UVIII) for the worst Ultima evar, although IMNHO UIX score points with 3D and closer to Ultima play in every way shape and form than super avatar world(jump jump jump and a entirely borked jumping system to boot.)...
