Wizard path question
Hello im just wondering why whenever i want to be a wizard im just given a few select spells and that im not able to select. My own like before like for instance i do not want to train in fire based spells i find fire boring and prefer. Water overall anyone know if i can still go that route or relocate my abilitie or skill points once the turtorial is done?

you will have to go to a skill trainer to train up your skills once you have reached certain levels. for example in death tree, you have to train soul tap to level 20 then talk to a skill trainer to buy death touch for 100 gold

I dont like fire either and have completely avoided that line of spells.

As Zed said, you get some skills for free as a new player, but normally you have to pay for training from trainer npcs for 100 gold per new skill. If you dont want any of the free skills just set them to go down and buy training for the ones you want.

Well that's just it I feel as if you should get to select your own spells and/or abilities for your chosen path i mean it wasn't like this before oh well. Maybe it will change in the future i mean the game is still in prealpha anyways.

I think that is a good idea! If you get some free skills as a new player you should get to choose them. Submit some feedback for that in this forum here:

With fire being probably the best PVE magic school currently, I would just continue playing, keep the free fire skills, and train the other spells you want. What people don't seem to grasp in this game is that you WILL eventually unlock every skill. My fire magic is in the 600's. Death in the 500's, Air in the 500's Life/Water/Earth in the 3-400's. Blunt/Sword in the 300's....... point being, you are not limited. You will mix and match different schools of magic and combat to make your character. You will want fire spells also for when you run into the mobs that are weak to fire.

Hey i don't really care if it's free or not i don't care for fire never have call me crazy but i like. Complicated to toy with my targets tortue them etc and fire is just plain boring to me ok i love because. Water spells you can do alot more with it than just damage targets and can as well support your allies etc it's very versatile.

One reason everyone will eventually want to train *some* fire magic is for the passive resistance skill. Enemy casters use a lot of fire spells, plus bosses and high level mobs like the phoenix and dragon have fire attacks where a bit of resistance helps. Having a grounding in all the magic skills for the passives will really help your character, imho.

Pretty Much. Regardless of whether you "Like" fire magic or not, it will make your character stronger.

So can you get good at those other skills though ? I started a mage but game told me it's unfinished and to do an archer, so I did. Now my intelligence is only 10. Do I have any hope of becoming a fear-inspiring necro-mage at all ?

It looks like the game only lets you make one online toon - is that right ? (But bank is shared)

Or should I (who wants a mage) put all of my archer toon's stuff in the bank and delete and re-create as a mage ? And if starting a mage, should I go to the archer area to level at first ?

You become a mage simply by learning and casting spells. Don't think that the 'paths' are there to train you, they are just quests to follow ;) Newbie priority is to get those stat increase skills asap, then look at getting every other useful passive skill from the skill trees.

You don't need to recreate your character, just visit a skill trainer and pick up (and get using) those magic skills which grab your fancy. Archery is as a good a backup skill for magic users as any of the weapon skills.

I appreciate your response.

So you're saying it doesnt matter if my toon's intelligence is way lower than my dex and strength, then ? I won't be permanently crippled as a mage later-on ?

Another thing that happened is that, though starting as an archer on the Love Path, I apparently switched to the Courage Path. That is what is in my journal and there is no reference to the Love Path there, and I have no corresponding quest item. That happened because in the first hour or so I teleported to my brother who was starting a fighter. Then I talked to the Oracle there got a necklace for the Courge quest. Will that hurt my guy ? IOW it's an archer wanting to level death magic but on the Courage Path - he's all mixed-up !

Nope, get that Int raising skill passive (on the focus tree iirc) asap and you'll be fine.
