Just use cheap items to level it initially.
For tailoring I recommend backpacks because they are useful as storage regardless of failure.
Others recommend boots because they are dirt cheap to make.
For carpentry, short bows are good for the initial training.
For Metalwork, rings are really good because they only cost one metal each.
You can also use junk that drops that you plan to sell to an NPC. I'm not sure exactly what determines which of the stuff can be masterworked, but some of it can.
If you are using low grade noob gear, you might want to make yourself some stuff with a gem attached, if applicable, one masterwork and one enchant for now.
The items that drop from NPCs ( like a Copper Longsword +2) contain parts you can salvage to create new crafted items.
I also craft boots for training this skill as you suggest - capes are also another good option like backpacks.
Blacksmithy masterwork and carpentry masterwork ar eskills i talk about ,they are unlocked ,but stuck on 1 ,i did alot of stuff +2 +3 even iirc but those skills never raised ,and they are needed to unlock last row of skills .
83 blacksmithy,86 carpentry now ,and unable to raise this skills:/
Let's use carpentry:
1. You make something like a bow - Carpentry skill matters for that because as you gain skill you get a better chance for an "exceptional" item which has more durability.
Exception items are really good for masterworking because each buff you add removes a little durability. But you can still use regular items for your training.
2. Two more skills matter as well - "Carpentry masterwork" and "masterwork ranged item" - make sure you are also training these skills - the higher they are the better your odds are for getting a masterwork buff using the five silver ingots.
How do I train these faster?
1. Use Obsidian Potion of Guidance - this trains 300% faster for 7 days
2. Jump in a "Blessing of Sacrifice" fountain which gives a +5 carpentry bonus
3. Wear a "Maple Band" ring when you craft which gives a +5 carpentry masterwork bonus
In the beginning you should add masterwork buffs to things that are cheap - short bows, boots, capes, backpacks, etc. Just create cheap things for the training - then add buffs until the durability goes below the minimum and you can't craft it anymore. You can sell these for a low price on a vendor.
One your skills get higher the you will have more confidence to buff more expensive items.
Right now my skills are:
Carpentry -100
Carpentry Masterwork - 74
Masterwork Ranged Weapons - 52
I'm am making bows that are usually +8 (or more) using two masterworks (95%/82%) and two enchantments (95%/82%)
My chance of crafting an exceptional item is about 25%.
The cost of learning masterworking is really all the silver you will use during the training - typically 10 ingots per item (or 40 ores).
Above each skill in the tree is a small icon - if you click it it will rotate from a "line" or a "green up arrow" or two "red down arrows".
The train from 1 to 100 you need to have the "green up arrow" turned on for any skills you are training. The "line" means not training. The "red arrows" means un-training - be careful that the red arrows are not showing (unless you really want to lose a skill).
I think it is better to only train a few adventuring and crafting skills once you get a skill up to 60 or 70. The XP and producer pool drain is much higher going from 70 to 100.
So you can control this training using the arrows on the skill trees.
- Crazed
To get the skills in the lower part of the tree you sometimes you have to go back to a trainer (or a specialized trainer in certain locations) and buy the additional needed skill for gold.
This should be clear in your skill tree.
I recommend that you go to the city called "Owl's Head" in Hidden Vale.
There you will find some important shops:
1. Carpentry Shop - dozens of recipes - make sure to buy the "Carpentry Masterwork Upgrade" - once it is in your inventory you can double click it to get it into your recipe book. Then you can use it on the crafting table. The recipe requires silver ingots.
2. Tailoring Shop - Do the same thing
3. Blacksmith Shop (Way up the hill through the gates) - Do the Same thing
4. The Alchemy Shop is across from the Carpenter Shop - That is where you buy the "Enchantment" recipe
These four shops have over one hundred recipes total - you can buy the as you need them - or buy them all at once.
Other important items are found at the vendors on the second floor of most major city bank buildings - you should check those as well.
The bookseller next to the bank (up the hill) in Owl's Head has important dungeon recipes as well.
I probably have several hundred recipes in my book for crafting at this point.
- Crazed Scavenger
It's complex but it make sense quickly once you do it a few times...
Great questions!!
But I try to use expert stations for expensive high level items.
Keep a bunch of repair kits in your inventory and just keep repairing the same tool over-and-over.
But it wont work anyway what it does ,it reessurect your pet,he is raising from ground ,then immediately disappear, like dismissed and necklace is blocked from any actions cant unequip cant lock unlock nothing.
If you call pet it shows whistle emote but nothing happens ,if you equip another necklace ,old necklace is red in inv also no possible actions on it ,so yep i think it is bug not feature .
Also last times i see i often find stuff i crafted just with halved stats 50/100 or so ,while im sure ive sold it to shop after few encounters i have such things on me even if i not seen em on enemies or chests .seems an weird item duplicate or so i often sell stuff i crafted just before leaving city so im absolutely sure i sold those items, and they was freshly crafted so was sold 100/100 ,weird.
