The whole idea behind Insectoids is evolution and adapting into new environments and challenges. We want to have as much variety in the creatures as possible, while still saving iconic features and look of the race.
We have planned to add for example flying and swimming Insectoid creatures.
Combining bipedal and crustacean creature design allows us much variety and customisation options.
Keep the feedback coming!

"I" looks like a cockroach/crab hybrid. The arms remind me of the pincers of a prehistoric crustacean called Anomalocaris.
"IX" is the most unique and immediately grabbed my attention. I especially like the asymmetrical placement of the shell. (reminds me of Pirates of the Carribean) This one is my top vote.
My second favorites are XI and XII
XI with tentacles (descended from Cthulu!) and XII looks like an undead crustacean, which is pretty scary!
