which version is the source?
is this the remaster of the Sega CD versions of the game or the PlayStation versions?
Sega CD had more pixel art and added story but PlayStation had more animated cut scenes and music.

It's based on the PSX remakes.

Ugh, means game play will be short and not as good as the original SegaCD versions. It may not be a big deal; but it was something I remember, and that is saying something. I appreciate they are doing the remake, but they should have put more effort into it. We don't need a PS1 port of the game; we need a full experience, I believe that SegaCD gave. Not a cut down version so graphics can be better.
I doubt the outtakes and bloopers will be in the game after completing it.

I don't think you quite remember what the gameplay was like if you're wanting it to be like the Sega CD versions. People usually want to go back to the SegaCD version for story changes, not for the gameplay.

The PS1 versions of Lunar 1 and 2 are gameplay wise about the same as Lunar 2 on SegaCD. They have a system where party members have their own inventory to use in combat with Nall/Ruby having a party inventory for out of combat. They standardized the equipment types characters to be a weapon slot, shield slot, armor slot, head slot, and two accessory slots, and 12 spots to carry usable items. Mage type weapons also frequently can be used as items to cast spells so mage characters have a magical type attack to fall back on. The types of usable items were standardized so there are two healing items, two magic refill items, etc. They standardized the spell area of effect system to single target, enemy zone, ally zone, all enemies, and all allies. Also each of the dragon spells are different and have a different effect and uses. The only big mechanic that doesn't really return for the remakes was the Magic EXP system. Oh, and the remakes put enemies on screen in dungeons rather than being random battles.

By contrast the gameplay of Lunar 1 on SegaCD is vastly different and it shows that it is the first game in the series. It's very easy to see that the gameplay was refined in Lunar 2 on SegaCD and that continued to be the standard going forward. Party members do not have their own inventory. Instead they have several slots of equipment where they can equip items, or instead of equipping items there they can put one use items there instead. The equipment is all over the place and not standardized. You can go long stretches of the game without seeing certain types of gear or gear for certain characters. One-use items are also all over the place and there's lots of the with varying effects. To bring one-use items into battle they use up the same slots as equipment. The spells aren't very standardized in their areas of effects. I can't remember if we even see zone type spells or not. All the dragon spells are pure damage type so there's no reason to use the first dragon spells you get after you get later ones. You also can easily run from pretty much every encounter.

I prefer the PSX versions over the SegaCD overall. The opening song of Lunar 1 on SegaCD is awesome and I prefer it, but it's not like any modern version would use that song as the style of it is very "dated" now.

The ideal base version would be the Saturn MPEG version I suppose, but that likely require more work than using the PSX as the base.

Regardless of which previous players prefer- I think all Lunar fans/new players deserve to have the option to play the original Sega CD version.

I liked the magic points system in og Eternal Blue to focus on specific "build ideas" for characters... and new fans deserve to see the true absurdity that was og maxed out Poe Sword.
