"YOU KILLED GWYN AND HIRO" Softlock Report
In Eternal Blue it is possible under pre-established conditions to have the game softlock when Hiro and Gwyn both fall and trap the Guardian boss in the Blue Spire who is unable to move, or reach Lucia. This is a known bug from the way way way long ago time, and was already patched in the COMPLETE version.

Please fix this :( It's so fun, and now I am sad.

Since everyone doesn't seem to know that YOU ALMOST KILLED GWYN AND HIRO is what Ruby says in the fix for the bug - the fix that was removed... I have tried to clarify... seems unnecessary yet here we are.

Agreed, this is a really stupid idea.

They've should've left it in and added a steam achievement for doing it lmao

Interestingly that is an achievement on RetroAchivments, which you can earn playing on an emulator.

They are clearly saying they experienced the bug in this version, and are asking for it to be fixed here like it was fixed previously

No, softlock is the bug and the OP is saying they killed it. Meaning its fixed and they want it back.

Never came across it through all my play throughs so not sure why they want it, looking at other posts seems to be a "you sucked at the game" bug.

What? That doesn't make any sense. No one is saying they "killed" the bug. "You killed Gwyn and Hiro" is the voice line that Ruby shouts before she one-shots the boss. After 💗VALENSiYAGAMES' edit to their post, it is very clear that they are saying the bug is back and they want it fixed in the same way Working Designs fixed it back in the day.

Let me break it down further:

1. In the Japanese version of Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete for PS1, there is a softlock scenario wherein Hiro and Gwyn both faint in a manner that blocks the boss from Lucia, who can't fight at this point.

2. Working Designs discovered this bug when they were localizing Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete for PS1 for the US. WD added an event where, if the above conditions are met, Ruby will shout, "You killed Gwyn and Hiro!" and will use her flame attack on the boss. This will kill it, so you can move on.

3. The Lunar 2 Remastered seems to be based off of the Japanese PS1 version, so the softlock described in Point 1 has returned.

4. 💗VALENSiYAGAMES found this themself and came to point out that the bug should be fixed.

5. You somehow misinterpreted 💗VALENSiYAGAMES quoting Ruby as complaining that GungHo "killed the softlock."

If it still doesn't make any sense, go try to recreate the conditions yourself in both the PS1 version and the remaster and see what happens.

Thank you, I couldn't have said it any better myself. I hope the person having the reading comprehension problems can understand it better now after this. I actually came here to mention this softlock, as I just did it to myself to see if it acted like the PS1 version it's based on. Now I'm in an infinite loop with the boss powering up an Ruby not one-shotting the boss.
For clarity, here is the softock present in Lunar Eternal Blue (Playing the Sega Saturn version, with a very much WIP english patch) - https://www.twitch.tv/runningwildvidya/clip/CuriousSavageElephantAliens-8bKUKhTW_cc121S2

And here is how Working Designs solution exclusive to the English release on Playstation -

"HE ALMOST KILLED HIRO AND GRANDPA! THAT BIG BULLY!"

I mean ya gotta admit, it's a very clever idea, and makes sense with context to the canon lore with Ruby. Plus anytime saved is good too for the speedrunners.

Really is just the perfect microcosm on why modern game development is a joke that people should stop financially supporting. Back in 2000 Working Designs cared enough about their port to fix a softlock that was present in the main game. Meanwhile in 2025 these developers either didn't care to do enough research/playtesting to even figure out about a softlock present on the first boss of the game they are working on, that already has a solution that could be easily implemented and that is so well known there is an achievement for doing it on Retro Achievments; or they knew about it and just didn't care. Pick your poison.

Worth noting is that the softlock can only be executed in the classic mode far as I can tell. I was unable to get it in the remaster mode because the positioning is different and the boss has more space to move around, that or they altered the collision detection boxes.
