This is absolutely one of my favorite series of all time, period. Probably even outranking Final Fantasy. (Yes, I said it) However, with the Remaster, I have some very minor complaints:

1.) Give me the original voice actors. This may simply be nostalgia talking, but the people voicing the lines in the remaster do NOT feel right. They either fall flat or are no where near what the characters SHOULD come across as. (There are some exceptions, but overall, give me the originals. WTF did you do to my man Quark?)
2.) Why was the PSP opening to Lunar: Silver Star Story not included? I thought that rounded out the storyline perfectly as well as a great precursor to the game.
3.) Why were some of the lines changed? Was there translation errors in the original or did you simply tone everything down to be "family friendly"?

Positives:
1.) I LOVE the sped up battle sequences. That was probably the absolute biggest drawback from the originals. You spent more time in battle and grinding/farming took ages.
2.) I especially enjoy the expanded items in Lunar 1. No longer are the days of micro-managing inventory and praying your combination of items was enough.
3.) The crashing bugs that took places on the Playstation back in the day have been fixed! The animation sequences are no longer jittery or badly pixelated. Good job on that.

For returners of the series: You may not find this as memorable as you once did. The voice actors have changed. Some of the classic lines that transpire that made them memorable have been changed. BUT the combat system is wholly improved.

7/10 Recommendation for returning players.

For new players: Enjoy your trip through the lands of the Silver Star and Blue Star stories.

8/10 recommendation for new players.

They don't make em today like how they used to!
Highly recommend if you want a true JRPG experience, one that isn't a watered-down 2010+ JRPG.

Two classic games remastered and worth a playthrough if you like 90s JRPGs. Both take about 17 hours (using fast forward in battle) with Lunar 2 giving even more time if you do the epilogue. These releases do have new features and QOL additions but imo could have used EXP/money multipliers and the ability of turning off encounters.

These games are fairly simple battle wise but they can be difficult. Dungeons are more about HP/MP management. You can destroy everything pretty easy if you use your MP but you'll quickly run out. The majority of the dungeons don't have any restoration statues so you'd reach the boss running on fumes. Relying on items is tough since MP items are expensive and money is tight to begin with for the majority of the game. That leads to many battles just using standard attacks and using MP to heal and only occasionally attack. While enemies are on the map most are impossible to avoid. Boss battles are largely the same in Lunar 1 using the same strategy the entire game. Lunar 2 is significantly harder in standard encounters and gets even more so in the epilogue.

I personally like Lunar 2 story and character wise over 1 but that seems to be a minority opinion. Although I did get burnt out and just watched the true ending for 2 since the epilogue ramps up the difficulty a lot.

You can get a solid 40+ hours combined out of both so it was worth the day one $40.
