Instant Disconnect In Multiplayer
As soon as I join a multiplayer game, I get "disconnected". I put that in quotations because it doesn't actually disconnect me but everyone freezes, physics never loads on other people's vehicles and I can't see anyone chatting. Sometimes it happens instantly and sometimes it takes a minute but 10 times out of 10, it happens. It's almost like it takes a second to load eveyones vehicles and then it just gives up doing anything else. Joining the server in the first place is no problem, takes no longer than 5 seconds.

According to speedtest.net

Ping is 78ms (which admittedly is not great)
Down is 40.17Mbps
Up is 2.43Mbps

So I'm not fully understanding why this is happening. Do I just have to have an insanely good internet connection to play multiplayer?

Are you using vehicles with lots of 360 Hinges / Detachers on them? They have a tendency to cause disconnects frequently. This will get improved in a future patch.

Ok so, firstly, because a lot of people apparently think this is correct.
The "ping" on speedtests is your ping against that speedtest server, not our servers :P There's a chance your ping is far higher (or lower) to our hosted servers.

That being said, we have improved the disconnecting thing quite a bit in the upcoming weapon patch, basically what happens currently is, peoples packets start dropping when you're downloading vehicles, so the game thinks you're lagging out. We've been able to increase the amount of packets that can be received, and the limit before it thinks you're lagging.

What you can try in the meantime is typing in "/mutespawn" it chat when/before you join the server, then wait a couple of seconds until everything looks alright, then type in "/unmutespawn"

What this does is pause the vehicle transfer list, and should theoretically help drop less packages, then you can see if you actually disconnect after 1, or 2, or 5 vehicles, and toggle mutespawn between them, always being sure to wait at least a couple of seconds before unmuting vehicles again.

There are a couple of ways we can do this internally/automatically, but they're far from optimal. It's something we need to experiment far more with before we can push a conclusive solution to the main issue.

No luck I'm afraid. Turning on /mutespawn before joining, leaving it on, and not spawning any vehicles of my own still result in being disconnected almost immediately. Guess i'll just have to wait for the next patch.

That sounds really weird, then it might not be the issue we're usually seeing :S

mind if I added you so we can debug this further when we both have some free time?

Yeah sure!

This has been resolved in the Weapons Update, works like a dream now!

Great to hear!

I dont know why but I just had the same "error" while connecting to Bigland. I have an average Ping of around 12ms and I already tried the /mutespawn method. After about 5 Seconds everyone on the Server, Chat and Vehicle Download freezes. I am a bit confused because it worked before the Weapons Update for me.
