AppGameKit Classic

Why should I use this over Unity?
I've been looking for a reason to ditch Unity for a while now. It just feels clunky, especially with Monodevelop. Sell me on this product. Why should I use App Game Kit 2 over other programs, such as Unity or Game Maker?

EDIT: I should also mention that I am solely a 2D game developer.

depends on what your after , what you've used before, what will do what you want, and which you prefer using yourself. there are pro's and cons for every language, studio out there. there is no diffinative programming language. so its really personal choice. Read what each language, engine, studio can do , know your ability, be willing to learn and try things out till you find something that you like and works for you.

That being seaid, the price tag alone for the full versions AGK is one of , if not the cheapest dev platform out there at the moment. so its cheaper to try and put through its paces at the moment using all of its features

If you able to code, there is a great deal of flexibility from using a full language over a development app such as the ones you mentioned. As BlueSteelAUS has said, it really depends on what you want to do. AGK 2 has a very powerful 2d sprite system and is pretty much ideal for developing these kind of games. Even with a little coding knowledge, development times with AGK 2 is fast. You might find the coding guides here on steam useful to see the kind of effects that can be achieved with just a few lines of code.

I've tried Unity when I've hit points in AGK where I need more functionality than is available. (When I say more functionality, I mean lazy, inbuilt options that mean I can code less.)
Once I've started creating the same thing in Unity, I very quickly realise that coding the extra bits in AGK is way faster than all of the overhead and complications I have to manage in Unity.

For 2D, AGK is extremely easy and fast to code in.

Thanks for the responses, guys! I am really tempted to pick it up, and its cheap price has me leaning toward doing so. You're all right, though, that Unity and AGK are different and it's more of a matter of preference.
