uncaught exception: vertex shader and pixel shader failed to link
After the new update, all my games (including simple 2D games) don't work anymore. It gives me the error "uncaught exception: vertex shader and pixel shader failed to link" then crashes.

I have a good feeling it has to do something with my computer specs (it's a pretty old laptop) but it worked last time with the older version. Unless there is way to fix this with the new version, I want to know if there is a way to downgrade my AGK.

These are my specs for those curious:
Lenovo ThinkPad SL400
Windows 7 Ultimate
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Chipset Family
OpenGL 2.1
DirectX 11

I had the same thing, unfortunately. If I remember rightly AGK now requires at least OpenGL 3.0 to run. I'm not that technical but with the introduction of 3D shadows and other (admittedly cool) additions the minimum graphic specs to run AGK have jumped up a notch and a laptop with only onboard graphics no longer cuts it - even if you don't use the 3D commands.

It's kind of a shame you can't specify you don't need the 3D options to circumnavigate this issue but I guess it would be a headache for the devs and it's unfair to expect them to cripple the software for the benefit of our creaky old laptops.

I'm not aware of anything that would have caused shaders to stop working, the minimum requirements are still the same (OpenGL 2.0). Does this happen with the built in examples as well?

It happens whenever I attempt to run anything at all with AGK. Broadcasting to a device still works fine. My laptop is certainly very old, but ran everything fine until the most recent update.

In case it helps, here's my system summary:

It's possible the shadow shader setup is causing it, I'll set it to delay setup until shadows are turned on which might fix it.

Thank Paul, that's great - if this is fixed for the next update it means I don't have to buy a new laptop! I kind of like using my old potato, the theory being if it works on this thing, it's going to work on anything. ;3

Just dropping in to say the latest update seems to have fixed this problem. Thank you so much! ^_^

Just want to give my deepest thanks to you Paul and all the AGK developers! The latest update seems to be working on my side as well with no problems whatsoever. It's quite an honor to have the developers themselves notice my post and just so you know, this is my very first and only post I made on steam.
Thanks again :D
