What was the Arm of Orochi like prepatch?
I just got it now. What was it like before the patch? Now it is 39 damage (98.3 DPS), 2.4 rate, movement speed +10%, 100% chance to spawn force slash causing 33% damage, and the attacks cannot be blocked. Still seems good, wanna know how much better it was.

Well, the force slashes did 100% damage, and the sword did more damage per hit than the Blade of Exile.

Is it worth using then? Or is the "significant nerf" too much?

it was insane, you could just spam the mouse button and it would kill everything in a line. its still pretty good but its down to 33% damage to the energy blades.

personaly, the ryuken was always better since you can essentialy get infinite rage mode with it using special moves often. was way more fun than orochi spamming.

I personally think they over-nerfed it, but I wouldn't say it's not worth using. It does still have the free Force Slashes and the inability to be blocked.

No.

I guess it's ok if you want a melee weapon for long range, the force slash mechanic slashing trough enemys in a line is quite cool. But the damage now is way to weak compared to other katanas, dont want to talk about guns at this point (300dps compared to 700dps yeah better use that arm lol).
It was simply op before the patch, you could nearly insta kill every enemy on insane 4 player difficulty while staying at range.

The whole point of Orochi was it was THE endgame weapon, completley optional overpowered weapon that was fun to use. Now it's worse than other swords so I might as well go back to the blade of exile. At least until they nerf that for being too strong. Expect that in the next patch.

The problem is the Arm of Orochi completely invalidated all other melee weapons.

Why should you use an ammo using force wave weapon when you had a free forcewave spam that did EVEN MORE damage?

Now there's at least a reason to use other swords. Also, the Arm of Orochi still has use with its nerfed waves. It's still unblockable. You can still add things like Life/Chi steal and safely drain from a distance with your waves. You just can't have a way too easy to abuse forcewave spam that kills everything and invalidates other weapons anymore.

What's the point of having so many swords to pick from if one just overpowers the rest? Oh right, there isn't one. So they made a reason to try other weapons. But I'm done trying to reason with anyone on this forum. Everyone's being a crybaby over not having overpowered skill sets and their precious 'I don't need skill because I can just spam LMB over and over again' sword.

You're complainging about a lack of self control, everyone else is complaining about having an option removed. You may not like it but their point is far more valid than "wow I can't play this game because it has cheats, why would I play legit when I can cheat?" mentality.

Dude, Retro, seriously. What the hell difference does it make *to you* if someone else uses an "OP" weapon? It's *their game* to play. If you don't like it, don't use it. I have played countless games where something seems OP and I choose not to use it. If someone else chooses to use it, it's not a problem for me because it's not my experience.

For example, I usually (this game is an exception) avoid anything that increases XP because I like to feel the natural growth a game offers. I don't care if that's what someone goes for first.

Does this mentality of yours encompass your everyday life as well? That mentality is cancerous, and it's the same mentality that drives people to keep gays from getting married or people from owning a gun. *tl;dr* Just because you don't like something doesn't mean no one can do that thing.

It's not about whether you have self control or not. It's about having people join you public matches and steamrolling everything. And no, you shouldn't have to limit yourself to private matches and playing with your friends only. I want to play with strangers without having to worry about that. That's more ridiculous than your claim of having an optional OP weapon. You're choosing to fanboy over this weapon instead of having a more balanced multiplayer experience.

I didn't mind the nerf too much (still mostly dislike the skill overhaul) as I swapped swords around anyways due to the way I spec'ed my elementals (Blades of Exile for toxic, Orochi for electric, Ryuken for fire and Ghidorah for ice) and swapped around anyways because I matched elementals, but the original Orochi was a lot of fun being essentially a cybernetic version of the full powered Nobitsura Kage in the previous game. Having a sword that was both great at close range and long range was fun.

They're bringing back the original Nobitsura Kage from what I heard. I hope they keep the full powered version because being able to only use it for the last level against just a small group of enemies and the final boss was kinda disappointing considering how awesome it was.

That's gonna be an issue regardless of how powerful Orochi was. If you were low level and I jumped in with all my endgame weapons decked out with level 100+ gems, I'd still annihilate all the opposition before you could even get anything done. That's why you usually try to hang around with people of your level during public matches. If people were indeed annoying you, kick them. That's what it's for.

Point is, there's no real competitive aspect to this so there really is no reason to worry about balance too much in these kinds of games. This isn't deathmatch.

Okay, so then you kick them.
