I got the free GOG version.
GOG players can play with Steam players.
But the Steam client software and the GOG Galaxy client software are two separate client softwares.
So if two players wanted to add each other to one of those, then both players must have the same client software installed on their computers.
You can "add GOG players to Steam" by adding those same GOG players' Steam names to your Steam Friend's list, or vice versa. Alternatively - or additionally - you can get the GOG Galaxy client and add their Galaxy names to your Galaxy Friend's list, or vice versa.
1. Player 1 (Steam owner) started the multiplayer game
2. Player 1 (Steam owner) went to whatismyip.com and found his external IP, and read it off to the rest of the players
3. Player 2 and Player 3 (both GOG) went into Story > Multiplayer > Direct Connect, and simply pasted in the IP
That was it. No problems at all.
No idea where "Story/Multiplayer/Direct Connect" is found. Are you sure you are playing Shadow Warrior 2?
In any case, for those who want to play on a private lobby with both GOG & Steam players, you can follow this guide here:
