Plus the beam arcs on the weapons seem to be a real pain to aim and only land 50% of the time and its a little hard in my opinion to follow most of the targets with it. In the end theres way better weapons to use then the gauntlets...
A real shame cause the weapons look so badass too! :/
I don't understand why they had their art team put so much love into the models and visual effects of these weapons only for them to be completely useless. Even SMGs outperform beam weapons.
So while some of the weapons won't do max damage, they can still be fun to use and it's nice to to have the insane level of variety. On lower difficulites every weapon is viable.
Especially when a free DLC adds a new ray gun that's even worse than the others. There's nothing fun about using a gun that tickles foes.
It's not about doing max damage that bogs these weapons down for me, it's how they're straight up unviable except for easy and normal, and every other weapon type still outperforms beams by miles on those difficulties anyway.
Every weapon type in the game except gauntlets are viable on every difficulty. There's no reason they can't or shouldn't buff beam weaponry to offer something useful.
I have an emperors fist--think of return of the jedi -- and put on double ammo and something that made a bigger ammo pack and more crits, and it is fantastic in zillas city--the flying probes are very vulernable to it.
the fire gauntlet is good in the more wilderness areas and for the things there... they are not one weapon kills all, but you can certainly use them for crowd control of trash mobs.
Small animals are the least threatening enemies in the game and beam weapons are unviable against even the trashiest of mobs past a certain difficulty.
They're cool weapons, but they're inferior in every regard compared to other weapon types and need a serious buff.
Insanity 3 is what I stay on (I can do higher but it's the most comfy for me)
Anything I do, even meta-modding on insanity 3, beam weapons are completely unviable and it's illogical for me to use a weapon that kills as slowly as these do. They offer nothing to the table unlike every other weapon type in the game which is why they need a buff.
