Career Suicide for ODD

ODD, you have basically thrown yourselves into an active volcano for assaulting Dan, saying that the video he made A YEAR AGO is defamatory. I would think most of the smaller YouTubers that played the game would have been scared from the aformentioned slander case you have going on here, but a major one is standing up to it. If this following e-mail address is a legitimate developer e-mail (enquiries@oddgames.com.au), maybe you should have made sure that the game worked in THE FIRST PLACE. If you think you're going to gain reputation for sueing a major YouTuber, you're WRONG, because he has no reason to be in court because of this. You're going to lose reputation for the thought of trying to bring down a major YouTuber for no reason in particular. I didn't want to have to use this language, but you guys are numbskulled idiots. You have no rights to claim something is defamatory that is now considered obsolete. You should've just asked Dan to annotate it, like he has done NOW. He can't be sued because the game is fixed now, but it was broken when he made the video. But you couldn't have send him to court then, because then it was as broken as a computer with no hard drive.

Just try to beat Dan in court. Anyone with a quarter of a brain knows that he has not done something defamatory or illegal. Plus, who are "relevant authorities"?

Why is it that some game devs never learn? Trying to censor a review, really? Look what happened when a dev tried that with Jim Sterling and another with Total Biscuit. This is PR suicide and stupid beyond belief.

Don't release garbage games that require extensive patching to be good and you will avoid this whole problem. If you're incapable of doing that, then do everyone a favor and stop making games. I'm sure you can find a job that doesn't require skill to be done well,. There are loads of gas stations and hamburger grills out there in need of operators.

I hope whatever they were trying to do worked for them. Because I'll never buy a game from them or their publisher. I just wish Steam would add a filter so we could ban studios and publishers from our store searches.

Edit : For the record the dev team is ODD Games, and the publisher is Merge Games.

They're not trying to beat him in court, they can't and they know this. They CAN bankrupt him by filing motion after motion, and win through attrition.

IMHO, this is even more of a scummy move by Merge, all over a $0.75 game that's a year old already.

The next step for these sub-human walking turds is to ban people who have an opinion from their forums. If they think this will make them "look" better, then they'd best not waste any time with it.

The even MORE funny thing, is this could all be avoided by them simply saying "Hey, we updated the game, could you let people know (through annoations and such) that these are no longer issues?" But they just had to use threats, and they commited digital suicide.

Added to the (very short) list of developers/publishers I will actively avoid and warn all friends to do the same. People like this simply don't deserve our money or support.

They are removing facebook visitor posts about this now. Previously they basically said "up yours" to anyone who left a message.

Yup, and then when people (including myself) wrote negative posts about the nerdcubed incident on their "Monster Truck Destruction" page on facebook, they get taken down immediately, they even took away my ability to post on the page. Absolutely disgraceful company. Trying to hide the fact that they have done something stupid by removing negative reviews on their pages. Also removing negative reviews about their game (not related to nerdcubed incident) because their feelings are so paperthing one negative thing might just crush them. Incredible.

*EDIT* As of now, they have removed MY ability to post on their company page as well. Appalling.
