Other languages?
Is there a chance that this relative text heavy game might get translated into other languages like French, German etc. ?

Sadly at over 200k words and climbing with new DLC, it's not cost-effective for us to implement other languages into the game at this time.

I guess so ^^ And its also not possible to try if the community itself would provide a translation maybe? I saw that working for many languages in the game Grim Dawn as example. Its not as text heavy as your game of course but with all the lore and dialogues you can find in that game its quite a lot.

Beside that, thanks for your answer and also for releasing and working on such a niche game.

Would it be possible to implement an effective way for the community to provide the translations? High chances there are some maniacs out there capable of throwing themselves into the task. I'm wondering how much of the 200k words I'd endure.

Sadly providing the translations is only half the task to successfully implement and test them in-game. We've had translations done for some of our previous titles and the time/costs involved versus the potential downloads/revenue does not work out. We never say never though and it is something we will continue to discuss especially if it appears that some languages could be cost-effective.

Creating some sort of modding through text files for translations could work well, you can just have the "official" release in english and any community translation through mods, with the usual "we didn't do this, it might fail, use at your own risk" disclaimer.
IMHO translation support in this game would be a lot better than less verbose ones, as a spanish speaker I have no problem reading in english but I get tired pretty fast (around the 30-45 min mark) reading so much text in a foreign language.
Anyways, I just started the game and I'm loving it, the look&feel of a D&D style boardgame is amazing, good job guys.

Thanks for your kind words!

And this is where the costs come in on our end. We're not saying we'll never implement something like this, but sadly at the moment the revenue from the game isn't large enough in English (our largest market by far) to justify it.

up for ita text.

@devs
Please consider smart alternatives to add multilanguage support with the help of translator communities if extra translations are out of budget or missing human resources: for example like the devs of Diluvion, and others, did using Google Docs to share text strings (see http://steamcommunity.com/app/446790/discussions/0/133256959381544586 )
It works, and will be free of charge for you.

Just translate the txt file into your language. I watched, but there is far too much text

Don't do this mistake publishing a game English-only in 2018....

@hexaae
Nothing prevents you from translating the text file in the game folder or contacting the developer... I translated a good part of the game, but I gave up because only there are too many texts.
(I'm going to start translating from Eador. Imperium... it's often enough to search a little bit to access the text files.)
hexaae Mar 14, 2018 @ 4:29am
I don't have the game yet. If the file is external and editable, that's perfect.
hexaae Mar 27, 2018 @ 3:03am
...sorry I think I'll buy Wartile in the end (yes I know they are not exactly the same...) because of multilanguage support, even though I have no problem with English language.

When it comes to translations, I would think such exist already! Surely the books were translated in al the major gaming languages. They were translated even in mine (Finnish). I bet that the copyrights for the translations would be messy though. And as developers said, implementing the localizationin the game is more than just changing txt file.
