STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

SW:EaW Mods
So, I've been playing this game for a fair while, and whilst I thoroughly enjoyed it, I couldn't help but feel its age beggining to seep through. As such, I went exploring for mods for the game. Personally, my preferred one has to be Republic at War, a mod which in my opinion is even better than the vanilla version! I also enjoyed Thrawns Revenge, but I couldn't help but feel it threw in too many new concepts & ideas, and on the whole, made the game more unweildly. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing mod, and I play it often! I just feel that RAW is the better mod. Anyway,I've written all of this for a simple question - which mods do you people prefer? Or do you skip mods, and simply prefer to play the vanilla game? Also, feel free to post any funny stories or experiences you may have had in-game!

Hey Null12!

I played EaW and FoC pretty often about four years ago, and back then I used a mod called "z3r0x" which adds literally hundreds of new space and ground units from the expanded universe - stuff like Mon Calamari Mediator-class battleships and crazy other ships you can only find in books that take place chronologically after the Battle of Endor. It made for some awesome battles and let me live out my desire to see some of these books come to life!
I just got a new computer with Windows 7 (four years ago I had Vista) and I've been trying to get this mod to work again, but I just can't seem to get it running. So frustrating! I watched a video on YouTube explaining how to get mods to work through Steam, but after following that I still couldn't get it to work. Any advice?

P.S. - Thanks for the post!

Make sure you find the properties of the shortcut and get the thing that says something like this (for thrawns revenge) sweaw MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War and copy and paste that into the launch options also when you install the mod make SURE it's in the steam sweaw forces of corruption not the lucasarts one. Also thrawns revenge BEST MOD EVER!!!!!! read the books there great.
Yeah I've got the mod in the Steam EaW:FoC folder and all, and I've copied and pasted the shortcut "swfoc_z3r0x_test_mod.exe" into the launch properties on Steam, but I still can't seem to get it to work...
same here i have been trying to install republic at war but i just dont get it any tips
Thrawns revenge is probably the best mod bar none, when your fleet comprises of 1 eclipse class SSD 2 executor class SSD 5 prateor II class battle cruisers. 10 SD IIIs 25 aclimators 20 victory IIs and 50 tartans with a few interdictors in there with doezens of other carriers firgates and support craft all supported by hundreds of fighters and bombers. you know the new republic is doomed.

Hey Anweyln, sorry for the late reply, been a little busy with University stuff! Arghh, why can't people just pay me to sit at home and play video games!? Anyway, I've never heard of a mod called z3r0x, but I do know the modder of the same name worked on the RAW mod! Best advice I can give you would be to check out the FAQ section on the mod page, and ask for help from those folks who play it/modded it! Sorry I couldn't be of more help! mjm4320, you sure you have the right shortcuts, and are using the Gold Edition of SWEaW? Check out the webpage, most folks are very helpful! If you can provide me with some more details, I'll see what I can do to help! jaxjace, I agree that Thrawns Revenge is indeed a great mod for those amazingly huge space battles, I just find that Republic at War provides more of a challenge. That and the fact that I have alwasy been a fan of the Clone Wars era! Not to hot on the animated series though.....

Take care folks, Allons-y!
Hello Null12

I'm also playing SW:EaW + FOC for several years know. I bought the Steam version of this game because I scramed my disc by playing too much. I also liked the Republic at War mod, but not so long ago I downloaded another mod called 'Stargate: Empire at War' or simply Pegasus chronicles. If you like the Stargate series you'll cetainly like this mod (personnaly I'm a fan just like for the Star Wars series). In my mind it's the best mod I found today (with all due respect to the RaW modders). There are so much variables and ways to play that you will keep playing for months and I'm just talking about the Galactic conquest. After installed the mod (without campaign), you can download up to 6 different campaigns. So, if you finished a campaign you delete it and download a whole new campaign made by another modder to get other stories and new game experience. You can find it easily on ModDB. Each time I open my pc, I play the Stargate mod, it's like a drug for me.

Have a nice gaming day!

You know the 1 mod I'm almost desperate to get my hands on is one that changes unit limits to something more reasonable. Seriously 10 ground units is enough for me to set up a defence and have MAYBE one or 2 units left for actual combat

Hey Hannibal! I never new there was a Stargate mod! I love the TV series, and in fact, I'm re-watching them right now! Off to Moddb to download it! Thanks! IceViper - nope, never seen that mod. Looks interesting though.....maybe give us a name? Cheers!
See you folks on the battlefield!

Hello I used to have some trouble with mods also and I am far from an expert but I found this video to be the most informative for installing EAW forces of corruption mods with steam I hope it helps

It's more or less the same princple for both games. The video above is pretty straightforward, and you'll find that most mods will include a readme for installation, but, as you've no doubt become aware, not always fo the steam version. If you need a hand, tell me what mod you're looking to install, & I'll see what I can do!

If you have a system that has more than 3gb memory you will need to download the FoC ram fix, you can google it, and it installs usually automatically

intall the mod files into the directory Program Files/steam/steamapp/common/star wars empire at war/corruption/mods

go back to your steam client, right click on Empire at War --> properties --> set launch options and enter the following (example) swfoc MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War

If all has worked well you can launch the game as the mod you just installed, which in my case is Thrawn's Revenge.

To install mods for EaW instead of FoC use the following command path followed by your selected mod (example) sweaw MODPATH=Mods\StargateatWar.

Hi again everyone I was wondering something, I am also a really big fan of republic at war but there is one major reason that I don't play it and that is that there are not any borders on the map. What I mean is that you can go straight from lets say rhem var ( Yes I know I am a star wars geek when I can come up with non major planets like that off the top of my head lol) to corusant all the way past any enemy controlled planets which means I have to fully defend EVERYTHING to the best of my ability which takes way to many credits has anyone found a way around this because I would like to start playing republic at war again also check out thrawns revenge v 2.0 if you haven't done so already they added a ton of stuff.
