STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

[EaWModLauncher] v1.1 - Release - First ModLauncher for STEAM EaW & FoC
[edit] *updated to 1.1

I recently released a new mod launcher for 'Star Wars: Empire at War' and 'Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption'.

Screenshot:
http://media.moddb.com/cache/images/downloads/1/85/84438/thumb_620x2000/1_eawmodlauncherEN.jpg

Features:
  • Launches the Steam or Retail version of "Star Wars: Empire at War" or "Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption" with or without mods.

  • Lists all found modifactions at the main launcher page. (Steam & Retail)

  • Temporarily moves all files found in a subfolder of a modification called "Data_main" to the game's DATA folder while playing this mod. (This was coded so that modded AIs or special custom maps do not interfere with other mods and the actual game folders stay clean.) (Steam & Retail)

  • Supports easily switching between game languages by clicking on flag icons at the main launcher page. (Steam & Retail)

  • Shows if a mod's language is not yet translated to the game's current language. (Steam & Retail)

  • Language files backup. (Steam only)

  • Opens the map editor, custom maps or savegame folders. (Steam & Retail)

  • Supports passing of parameters to make your own custom shortcuts to mods without ever seeing the launcher GUI. (Steam & Retail)

Glad it worked! Have fun playing EaW^^
After struggling to get a mod working, this programme did the trick first time. Thank you so much for this!
You're welcome!
Hey Bert!
I added you as friend if you don't mind to talk programming.
Great job! :)
I load the thing and it says Could not reset the Direct3D device. Anyone know how to fix this

Never mind I got it to work

I guess it was an old graphics driver?
Just to confirm, this launcher is made to be able to switch between multiple mods?
Yes^^ Or just a simple way to launch only one mod in steam for EaW/FoC.
You just copy or install your downloaded mods to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods" for the addon Forces of Corruption or copy them to "..common\Star Wars Empire at War\GameData\Mods" if the mod is for Empire at War. Now just start up my launcher, select the mod you want to play in the list and hit 'Play Mod'.
It's just a simple way to play mods for steam and retail versions of the game. (the advanced options of this launcher, like Data_main can be ignored if it appears too complex^^)
You have to find mods which interest you.
Moddb is a good site to search and download mods for Forces of Corruption.
Let's say you would like to play Thrawns Revenge: Imperial Civil War.
Just download their mod^^ and open it with an unzipper like http://www.7-zip.org/ and drag&drop the folder "Imperial_Civil_War" inside ICW21.zip into "C:\Program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods".

(If the following path exists you have done it correctly: "C:\Program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data\...")

Now just start my mod launcher, select imperial civil war and hit play mod.

After installing a mod correctly to "../corruption/Mods" you can just extract/drag&drop the "EaWModLauncher.exe" to somewhere on your PC and doubleclick it to play a mod. (If it does not find empire at war, make sure to start the game at least once using the steam interface.)

I downloaded this after being unable to launch the game itself. When attempting to launch FOC, I get this error message (with out mods)
[nsProcess::603]
Failed to detect game launch.
How do I fix this?
@LLLong
By default the launcher waits 60sec for steam to start the game.
(If steam is not yet launched, my modlauncher will start steam --> If you haven't saved your steam login infos to your PC, you have 60sec to enter them until the error message will appear)

* You can create a shortcut to this modlauncher and add the following parameter after the last quotation mark in the target field - the launcher will now wait 3minutes for steam to start the game (you can crank this number up to a maximum of 999 seconds - but I would not recommend that):
-SteamWait="180"

* There is of course the possibility that your version of EaW *does not require* steam to start.
In this case, you have to move the game folder (Star Wars Empire at War) out of the SteamApps\common folder --> put the whole star wars folder somewhere else like D:Games or so^^ This will fix it for non steam versions of the game.

Good luck^^
Without using the launcher, I can select which version to use, but then nothing happens. I still got the same error, do you think it is in a different folder than intended. the current path is through "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War". I have the steam gold version. (I tried both fixes). to explain the launch process through steam, I click play on the game, and the pop up saying which version I want to use is, and when I select either version, steam says I am playing for a split second, and then does nothing. I am at a loss. :/
Ah ok, so its a issue with the steam game itself, not with the launcher.

If the game will not start at all, you will have to try the usual fixes:
(make sure to copy the game folder back to "SteamApps\common", if you tried my launcher fix from the post above)

* Verfiy game cache:
- Completely exit Steam;;
- Right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam;;
- Select "Run as Administrator";;
- From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu;;
- Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.

OR

* Reinstall the game:
- Delete local files (Library - right-click on the game);;
IMPORTANT!: - manually delete the whole "SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War" folder if still there;;
- Reinstall the game with steam in admin mode (steam shortcut - right click - "Run as Administrator")

It is possible that you installed some mods in the wrong folders or steam just has not enough rights to create registry entries for it's games. Starting Steam as Administrator might solve the issue already... fingers crossed^^
