I guess it was an old graphics driver?
It's just a simple way to play mods for steam and retail versions of the game. (the advanced options of this launcher, like Data_main can be ignored if it appears too complex^^)
Moddb is a good site to search and download mods for Forces of Corruption.
Let's say you would like to play Thrawns Revenge: Imperial Civil War.
Just download their mod^^ and open it with an unzipper like http://www.7-zip.org/ and drag&drop the folder "Imperial_Civil_War" inside ICW21.zip into "C:\Program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods".
(If the following path exists you have done it correctly: "C:\Program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\corruption\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War\Data\...")
Now just start my mod launcher, select imperial civil war and hit play mod.

Failed to detect game launch.
How do I fix this?
By default the launcher waits 60sec for steam to start the game.
(If steam is not yet launched, my modlauncher will start steam --> If you haven't saved your steam login infos to your PC, you have 60sec to enter them until the error message will appear)
* You can create a shortcut to this modlauncher and add the following parameter after the last quotation mark in the target field - the launcher will now wait 3minutes for steam to start the game (you can crank this number up to a maximum of 999 seconds - but I would not recommend that):
-SteamWait="180"
* There is of course the possibility that your version of EaW *does not require* steam to start.
In this case, you have to move the game folder (Star Wars Empire at War) out of the SteamApps\common folder --> put the whole star wars folder somewhere else like D:Games or so^^ This will fix it for non steam versions of the game.
Good luck^^
If the game will not start at all, you will have to try the usual fixes:
(make sure to copy the game folder back to "SteamApps\common", if you tried my launcher fix from the post above)
* Verfiy game cache:
- Completely exit Steam;;
- Right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam;;
- Select "Run as Administrator";;
- From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu;;
- Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
OR
* Reinstall the game:
- Delete local files (Library - right-click on the game);;
IMPORTANT!: - manually delete the whole "SteamApps\common\Star Wars Empire at War" folder if still there;;
- Reinstall the game with steam in admin mode (steam shortcut - right click - "Run as Administrator")
It is possible that you installed some mods in the wrong folders or steam just has not enough rights to create registry entries for it's games. Starting Steam as Administrator might solve the issue already... fingers crossed^^
