Hold the left mouse button and drag over the units you want to select. You can press ctrl+a to select ALL units you have. Though, I don't remember how to select more than one without dragging.

You can also "group" units by selecting the ones you want in a group, and pressing ctrl + a number to assign a number to a group of units. When you want to select that group, just press the number. This also works for buildings, turrets, buildable things, and Space Stations and whatever else you can "select" or "control". So say you press ctlr+1 while you have your Space Station selected, pressing 1 will now select the Space Station.

If you have one type of unit selected, crtl+a will select all of that type. If this is not what you want, you can select one unit and then add to the grouping by holding shift+left clicking the units you want to add.

Thanks [REaW]Greatsaga, I was unaware of how to assign numbers to groups.

That's an intersting trick, I'll have to try that when the tried and tested method of build a ton of everything and then keep attacking until we win doesn't work.
