STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

[Issue Resolved] EaW: Forces of Corruption "Exception" Error [Gold Pack Fixes This]
EDIT / Update (removed now out-of-date OP info): Gold Pack fixes all Exception Error issues for me.
----------------------------------
So, I have the original EaW, and FoC discs from way back when. Both discs are in very good condition and both versions of the game installed quickly with no issues.

Ran them both in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and ran as admin as well. The vanilla EaW started up and ran without any issues, but sadly FoC automatically black screens and a popup for an exception has occured, appears.

Thanks for the replies / for your time everyone!

Specs:
Windows 7, 64-bit
AMD Radeon 7770 HD
Intel Core i7-3770
12 GB RAM
CPU @ 3.40 GHz

Does anyone know of a work around to this? I would rather not have to spend any money if I can get FoC to work normally again (plus the worry of this happening with Steam's Gold pack would annoy me as well to be honest - if I can be assured that the Gold pack for Steam won't cause any issues, I'll be more inclined to purchase it [but like I said, the original I have works perfectly, but it's just this "exception" error for FoC that's hindering me).

That would be due to the fact that FoC needs the RAM fix in order to run on Windows Vista and up if you have more than 2gb of ram. Go look up FOC RAM fix, and install it.

Thanks for the reply.

Will search more for that specific fix; playing the base game currently, and still having fun in the mean time.
Well, I'm at the point when I wonder if the Gold Pack will contain this same issue or not.

Not the steam version, since it has the RAM fix integrated into it already.

Hmm, that's interesting indeed. I have seen a few people say they still had the exception error with the Steam version, but it always seemed the majority never talked about it; that's why I am a tad cautious with buying the Gold Pack.

Makes me think.

An exception error can occur for many reason, only one of which is the issue with Forces of Corruption and ram. The Steam version has the RAM patch, and what do you mean by "incompatible program"?
Hmm, alright then, good chance I'll buy the Gold Pack then, just finished the Rebel Campaign anyway haha.

As for their "incompatable" issue, maybe it is a Windows 8 thing? I mean, hell, that OS was been meh quality for a bit; maybe it could be as simple as selecting Windows 8 for compatability mode?

Oh, that's what you mean. They probably have that listed because it is a known issue that tons of Win8 uses cannot run the game, even with compatiblity mode. But it has been established by people here on the forums that it runs perfectly fine on Win8, it therefore has something to do with User Settings or Programs (firewalls, antiviral/malware etc.) interefering with it.
Oh,I have Windows 7 still on my PC and laptop becuase 8 is garbage in my opinion; I was pondering TornadoSpartan's dilema.

Oh, haha, for some reason I didn't realize that the incompatibility thing was a different poster :P
No worries, haha.

But if Steam's Gold Pack has the fix built in for exception error, then all is good.
Thanks again for the advice @Gr3atsaga, assuming I should uninstal the disc version I have before downloading the Gold Pack from my library? :P

I do suppose some of the registry files may not properly install so it is probably best to. I do know
