Game Lag and performance issues
I just bought the game during the sale, when I try to play it the Framerate drops to 5-10, even after setting all graphical setting at the lowest point I still see no improvements in the frame rate.
Is there any way to fix this??

I have the same problem (low FPS). I tried the "one core CPU thing", the "OSD thing", the sound change and to unplug my second screen nothing works.
And all of that on the lowest graphics settings.

Here are my comp's specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3000 MHz
Graphic card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
OS: Windows 7
Ram: 8 Gbs

Hey Guys! This game used to work on my computer (Win 10) however, i just got a new monitor because my old one (a 1400:900) had died on me. I am now using a 1600:900 monitor but the game since this upgrade has been lagging or crashes whenever I try to fix the resolution.

I'll try the download link from above, however, if it does not work I will be keeping an eye on this commhub.

Thanks!

I think I got a fix here. Seems like the game suffers from memory issues. You have to put the game in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode; C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common. Go into Star Wars Empire at War folder, right click on the application and select properties. Go to compatibility tab and have the program run on WIndows 98/ME. One downside is that your save files will be moved, to where? Not sure, I'm not running the game on steam. If someone could figure that out, that'd be great. But this definitely improved my gameplay tremendously, maybe it'll work for you guys.

Just run it and it should work.

Basically
1) Download from the link provided.
2) Run it and it will install and place a desktop shortcut.
3) Double click shortcut and start gaming. It's already pre-configured for 60 fps.

Nothing actually happens, no icon comes up on the tool bar at all, is that supposed to happen?

Yes it goes straight to the task bar. It's designed to be pretty much invisible (but still give you the option of actually closing it and altering it).

Assuming you have a quad core CPU, this game was built for a single/dual core, hence your processor is limiting the game. To fix this you need to set the affinity of the process to make the executible use 1 core only, not 4. This should fix it.

Worked perfectly for me! Thanks for the help!

Alright so I re-installed the game to investigate and sure enough it's a hz issue. The game is trying to render more than what your monitor can handle, so if your monitor is 60 hz it jumps back and forth between 59 and 61 hz which will result in a stuttery low fps feel.

Once again, my trusty OSD fixed it completely.
Here's a link to a pre-configured installer which will cap your fps to 60 (you can change it if you want). Just run it before or while you game and enjoy butter smooth framerates. No need to do any kind of affinity tweaking.

Found a fix, it was lagging for me for a few months and now it works. All you gotta do is go to GameData, sweaw, right-click and go to properties, run the compatibility troubleshooter, and it should switch the compatibility to Windows Vista, if not manually change it to that version.

I will see if that works and fixes it one day:hexhappy:

I used a combination of OSD and switching the exe to Windows 98 and, besides a few sound glitches, it works great :)
