Why Won't the AI build capital ships?

I would love to fight against Mon Cal Cruisers and Imperial Star Destroyers but even on Hard the AI never builds them, at least in Forces of Corruption. I even just turtle and wait for them to upgrade their space stations at the shipyard planets but no luck.

Remember that capitals can only be build on a few planets - so if the AI doesn't have those planets - it can't build them....

Even if AI owns those planets, it doesn't build such ships either. Furthermore AI doesn't advance its tech level and doesn't upgrade space stations. AI in this game (at least in "Galactic Conquest") is some kind of overkill. It produces no kind of competition spirit at all, and the gameplay is boring. I thought with such a major update this issue would be solved but so far no luck at all. Pity ((

The Rebellion keeps advancing tech, the Empire has trouble with that and the Consortium... those guys are always tech level 5.

Generally best to start at T5 if you aren't playing as the Empire and then the AI will build a larger variety of ships, may still not build the big capitals but still more variety.

It may be wise to - after they get updated for the 64bit exe's, consider the excellent mods out for the game that definitely resolve this issue just as they did for the 32 bit version.... Just sayin...
