STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

Game doesn't launch on 64-Bit version
Base game EaW works fine however vanilla FoC and mods won't start. Changing back to 32-Bit version makes it work again. I've re-validated files twice, and updated drivers. Is anyone else having this issue?

Fixed it: delete the old d3d9.dll in Star Wars Empire at War/corruption folder.

Yea i'm not entirely sure where that .dll came from. Probably from some wacky thing I tried to do to make the game run better or something at some point.
But when I was looking at Event Viewer log at the time it was giving me 2 separate errors when I tried to launch the game one for visual C++ (well a .dll in the system folder that uses that framework), and another for that .dll file. I since repaired all instances of C++ on the PC and deleted that .dll (which did the trick) not so much restarting the pc after fixing the former.

I am also having this issue, I have the screen flash white four or five times on all the .exe files, and there is no d3d9.dll, any solutions?

Same. No d3d9.dll file to delete and game won't start

All the same for me, As soon as i start the .exe white screen with no response.
I tried compatibility mode aswell, but i can chose "Windows XP (Service 3)", which seems to be nessecary.

i got some .dll datas in my corruption folder but they are named "binkw32.dll" or "mss32.dll" do i need to delete them or not?

No you shouldn't have to, I remember now as I saw the guide a few days ago but thats where the d3d9.dll came from; from one of the steps that tells you to put a file there and rename it to that.

Also try running the game as admin, and try to launch StarwarsG.exe or swfoc.exe with those params. Disable full screen optimizations as well if previous step didn't work and repeat. My issue was similar however I didn't even get a white screen it just said launching in steam load icon (mouse) appears and then the game just would say "play" again on Steam.

Nothing of the above worked btw

Question to those people who are having the same problem: Are you using windows 10 or 11? Isnt working for me and I have win11
using windows 10 and only base game works. None of the mods will work anymore. Very disappointing
@sowicced define "mods dont work"
crash? or when you launch the mod -base game launches
Game uninstalled with uninstaller software and reinstalled. Game now starts but mods have no planet- ship- names etc. instead of descriptions there are placeholder shown.
Windows 11 x64
Some lagging and performance issues in ground battles identified.

Is your game in english? I think that happens when the base game is in a different language
proper fix, hit alt + enter ( you are now in window mode, it should display correctly in the window. change your resolution to a 1080p one.
ok so I banged my head against a wall for last 3 days and sorta think I figured it out basically you have manually download Direct X from windows run it once in windows 8 captibility mode with Full screen disabled that will cause the game to run but wrong once you overcome the D3 error you just have to keep clicking the Runme2 Executable that is in the folder before the corruption folder oh and don;'t forget to open the property files for empire at war and have steam validate all the installed files its been an absolute nightmare if I could post pictures of what I did I could describe it better.

That's a bit hard to follow, so I need to do this (?) :

- Manually download and install direcX
- Run SW FoC in Win8 compatibility once with full screen disabled (can't really disable it unless you run with the mod launcher, so i used that)
- "keep clicking runme2.exe" -> Did that and crashed like any other time
- validate files

If thats what you meant then sadly it didnt work

Thank christ someone can explain it better ok so when you ran it in win8 conpatibiltty it made the screen super compressed right? Once its supper conpressed disabile compatibity mode make sure the files are validated in my case it said 34 were missing for some reason I had to click runme2 each time I changed something until it worked like I said I was basicly trying every old solution I found from 2018 let me get you the link

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
I also redid my drivers and basicly just kept clicking runme2 and validating installed files over and over maybe you just have to keep messing with the settings until it works again like I said I basicly did a much of things at once until it worked.

I can manually launch the FOC expansion using the local files(StarWarsG.exe), but none of the mods work and I cannot launch the game from steam, and every time I try to launch the game using swfoc.exe my computer tells me "VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found" I have not deleted any files since I installed the game and none of the previously mentioned solutions are available/ work for me, I have tried verifying my game files more than once and I also tried reinstalling the game twice. I also just verified the integrity of my games files just now, it says I have all 496 files, idk if that helps but that is the information I have. If someone has a solution for this that would be amazing.
