Thanks for the response.
I'm able to load up the game now, via Steam, after doing all that and doing another fix where I swapped (in the corruption folder) swoc and StarWarsG. (I simply renamed them. The original swoc becoming StarWarsG and vice versa). This worked to open them.
I also did your advice, as far as I can tell.
On mods, I encounter a recurring issue when using the FoC Mod Launcher (which is my go-to since using the mod launcher in game causes a crash with no message).
When attempting to load the base game via the Mod Launcher I get "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." and "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
As far as I can tell, if I do not do the switch with swoc and StarWarsG, my game simply refuses to startup (via Steam). The situation with the FoC Mod Launcher gets worse when I do not do the switch
I was looking online but the instructions to installing this is ... difficult for me so help is always appreciated. Or alternative methods.
TL;DR
I can start the game and play it w/out mods.
There is a lingering issue with the .dll, I think.
I use the Steam mod # and it worked, after inputting it into advanced options for startup.
Game works. But... I found I get a bug where all units except heroes are destroyed after battles...Any fix known?
I'll be trying what you said
When I try to troubleshoot swfoc, I just get a .dll error. Same ones I mentioned before. Troubleshooting StarWarsG does nothing same with troubleshooting Steam itself
I'm half considering the nuclear option which is just delete my bootcamp at this point and try again on windows 11 lol. I think the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable didn't load right or something ...
I've tried redownloading but it seems like that won't work. My original issue of the game loading is technically fixed... but only at the cost of a kind of unplayable feature - losing your ground units everytime you have a battle.
I'm talking about losing - due to a glitch - every single unit except for unkillable heroes.
My issue right now is I can't get the game to start via Steam
And when I *am* able, such as through the mod manager mod, I encounter the .dll issue.
edit: I *think* I solved the issue.
I managed to fix the steam load and .dll issue (related) but this remains it seems in some way. I have to start the battle in a certain way (send one unit down from the hyperspace spot) or I tend to lose everything except the heroes.
