Multiplayer Problems ;( (mod-Thrawn's Revenge)
So i've downloaded the "Thrawn's Revenge" mod for this and when i try to go to the internet option under multiplayer it says could not connect to gamespy, now i know gamespy has been gone for a while and with it their servers but is there a way to port forward or something for EaW?

Use Gameranger for hosting - though you are going to have to run mods directly - so make a backup of your corruption data folder and then copy the contents of ICW's Data folder found within Mods and integrate it with FoC's data.

I don't like how the Tunngle adapter is integrated, I don't use it.

How do the mods work normally? Do they use a launcher app that temporarily swaps files around? Or do they simply use another folder within the install and a command-line parameter to select them?

The second is how the mods are working normally. Usually you go and add a command line to run the mods, however that is impossible to do with Gameranger since it would require an FoC shortcut with a command line - which would play Empire at War and not Forces of Corruption.
What I've done for some other games is add native support for certain mods. They appear as a separate game in the list, but are linked to the main game so people will the main game will still see them listed (even if they haven't installed the mod yet), so it doesn't fragment the community.

The advantage of doing it this way, is that it doesn't require the host *and* joiners to set up command-lines correctly. The disadvantage, of course, is that it requires each mod to be explicitly supported.

Which of the EaW/FoC mods are actually popular (or at least designed) for multiplayer?

Thrawn's Revenge and Republic at War are probably the two most played mutliplayer mods.

Gameranger does not support them, no... but you can play them by installing them directly to your game's data folder.

This is a very late addition to the discussion, but me and my friend have both put the mods directly through the data folder ( replacing it) and it works. But when running game ranger and hosting the server it launches for both of us and it puts me in the main menu. i create a LAN game like what would normally happen, but , he cant see the game so he cant join. it works without the mod though. What would cause something like this and how could i fix it?

Hey everyone! I am currently having the same issue Big Smonk is having. A friend and I are attempting to use GameRanger as a means to play Thrawn's Revenge together. We have installed the mod by merging it with the original Forces of Corruption Data folder. When one of us hosts the game through GameRanger Thrawn's Revenge loads perfectly, however, both of us are required to manually step up LAN in the game's main menu screen. After doing so and after hosting a game, neither one of us is able to see the other in the LAN multiplayer lobby. Is there any fix for this? Could it be that our files do not match for some reason and that's preventing one another from seeing the other in lobby?

We have successfully played the Republic at War mod through GameRanger. Thrawn's Revenge seems to be the only one giving us an issue.

Yeah it means y'all have different files somewhere that aren't matching so it thinks you're playing different versions. There's not really any way to tell exactly what file is wrong either so you're stuck removing the mod files and starting over.
