Multiplayer servers..
I want to buy this game but not without the multiplayer servers, any news on another company taking the reigns on hosting dedicated servers?

No, but why not just use third party hosting?

That's a bit of a hassle.

I rarely play multiplayer on this game except with close firends. It has great single player replayability especially with mods. Mind you this was made by Petroglyph they put more into offline than online usually (they indirectly took a couple shots at starcraft for always being online at their E3 demo of Grey Goo actually). If you personally like playing online I reccomend starcraft 2, spring rts, and pretty much any of the 6 mmo rts games out there to which I am aware of.

Well, then don't ever enjoy EaW Mutliplayer. That's simple. No one will ever bring dedicated servers back for EaW.

Also if you use hamachi it isn't a hassle it is very easy to use (Tungle though is so I would half agree/disagree on your statement).

I have played this game in the past, both single player and online, I REALLY enjoyed the online play. No other game was like this in my eyes.

As for your game suggestions, Star Craft 2 has always been in my mind as something I would need to be almost unaturally good at to enjoy the multiplayer, what's your opinion?

Also, could you list other RTS suggestions?

EDIT: is it easy to find other players with hamachi?

Well the problem with new strategy games like starcraft is they are more of a click fest lol. In the older games actions per second didn't matter if you had a good plan (its sad really what has happened). Anyway here is some mmo rts games:
1. Novus AEterno- Recently funded and created it is essentially eve online in rts form (aka a 4x mmo).
2 Saga- which is a fantasy rts game with multiplayer elements although I think it is dead unfortuantely however the servers are still running.
3. HiveRise- while not an mmo exactly it is a fast paced rts where players go heaad to head after small base building.

I am having trouble finding some of the others partly because I forgot their names). I will continue to search for them but also here is a list of free rts games too if you are intersted (some are still under development however):
1.Megaglest- fantasyish rts game.
2.Original command and conquer games (minus red alert 2).
3.0 A.D.-age of empiresish rts game in development.
4. Warzone 2100-post apocolyptic rts game.
5.Annex- a modernish rts game running on the same engine as MegaGlest.
6.Star Wars vs Halo. (don't think i need to explain that one lol).
7.Solar Flare- you build bases on planets and fire projectiles at eachother.
8.HouseGlobe a 2d homeworld.
9. BOS wars which is a 2d rts game.
10. Enemy Nations- a fusions of a city builder and rts game.
11. Spring RTS- a engine which mounts multiple rts games.

I hope this helped and I will update it when I find more.

Thank you so much! Novus AEterno caught my eye but I'm having trouble figuring out how to purchase the game.

I believe it should be free to play but you need an account though. I might be wrong but will check (premium players do not get a staggering edge I should also inform you so you don't shy away from the game as I have read on their forums it is pretty much just micromanagement stuff for huge empires).

I've done more looking into, it seems that early access to the game will start early december, I'll just have to wait until then!

MegaGlest, HiveRise, and the spring engine should have people currently. Also I am glad I could help.Red Alert 1 and Megaglest both have online (Star warss vs halo does too) but i am not sure of their status or number of players if you are ever willing to play those. There is also an rts game called trash that has a free to play version but unfortunately it limits you to 1 map and 1 of the 2 factions.

Edit:If you want links let me know.

I play MegaGlest regularly and make small contributions to the project. It's a very fun (read that as addicting) RTS game. It's easiest to find players between 1pm - 6pm CST, and add 7 or 8 for CET :) We often get 4v4 Coop games going (4 being the CPU), and sometimes 4v4 human vs. human games depending on who's playing and what mood they're in. :)

Does GameRanger still run servers for this game? I would be down to play some multiplayer. The AI just loses over and over

As far as I'm aware, gameranger still works.
