Any similar Sci-Fi RTS with Galactic Conquest type mode?

Having been a big fan of EaW on it's release in my childhood, and now got back into as an adult, I've found it hard to find any modern game that's managed to capture the same feeling.
It seems like you can only have one or the other in these types of games: An in-depth space 4X with a focus on management and politics over space combat, or a game with a linear set of missions or competitive multiplayer focus with no overarching galactic conquest/strategy layer.

Anyone know of any similar games to this one that has both elements?

Warhammer 40k: Gothic Armada 2 seems to have what you're looking for, though I haven't played it myself.

Yes the entire sins of a solar empire is a similar game play but only space no land battles. This being said you can build up a planet and the space around it far more then EAW.
