Rebel plex troops are OP as ♥♥♥♥
That is all... This game has no balance.

There is literally no way to stop them but storm troopers and even then, they almost always break even. They are insane. They have leverage over 85% of the empire ground forces and they just spam them till death, couple that with a couple of light tanks and artilary and you literally can't move or fight the rebels on any grounds.

They are so cheap to produce, and anything that is meant to counter them like tie maulers, speeders, or storm troopers almost trade 50/50 all the time, I literally can't gain leverage in any battle.

I just keep throwing literally 30-40 squads into mega fleets, almost my full resource pool and still can't hack it against even the most minor ground invasions. What is with this game? How do you actually get around this absurdity?

When I played the rebels, I almost never lost, barely used a strategy, just numbers. It was almost boring easy, with the empire, I can't do ♥♥♥♥ no matter how much I target my units, micro manage, and exploit the AI. The empire is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gimped its not even funny.

Only way I make any ground at all is just spamming storm troopers after waiting for a bombing run, load up my command points with heros and artilary and just book it to the next installation to hit with the bomber, and even then it barely results in a victory, and never one where I don't spend like half my fleet.

The empire is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god awful. Space battles are at least some what win able, but ground forces are just insane.

I won as the empire in ground battles
They need them to fight the op vehicles of the empire.

Speaking for single player here, dont really have a lot of multiplayer experience. Anything that can quickly close the gap can beat them, yes even TIE maulers. The prefered strategy is a squad of AT-STs. Your walkers can easily take 3-4 barrages. All you have to do is use their "max firepower kind of ability" on the PLEX troopers and they literally wipe the floor with them. imperial artillery and AT-AA (their special ability ruins missile targetting) are your friends. Also, let's dont forget Emperor Palpatine, who can just zap them or even convert them to your units. Good luck!

Ill try it again, Im playing the campaign.

I just had like 4 plex troops and an artilary wipe out 5 storm troop squads, 2 battle tank squads, and 2 tie maulers in literally less than 6 seconds. I'll try the AT-STs again.

I think part of the problem is also that I have parked on all their planets because they were bring in hufe fleets, Like Im talking 6 corvettes and 19 frigates, 20 y wing Or one was even 81 y wings, 10 frigates, 8 corvettes, and 5 x wings. It's beens absolutely bonkers the numbers they were throwing, so now that all planets are fleet blocked, all the ground forces are BS instead.

not exagerating either, the AI is being stupid aggressive.
The AI in EAW is really crappy, so as well as building units, they get spawned from every planet for every base on said planet every turn. So the AI gets an insane number of units. On easy, the AI gets less units and is less aggressive, but on normal or hard you end up with a 70+ unit attack on a planet every 2-3 turns (with another 70+ ground units ready to attack if they succeed). Luckily the AI is ungodly dumb, so even though you have way less units its quite easy to win.

IDK I think stormtroopers are a pretty good trade, but even then that's a bad way to think about it tactically. You should have large reserves of stormtroopers to throw at the enemy and use your superior vehicles to win other engagements. Without PLEX troopers the rebels are really easy to counter with TIE maulers and mag lev tanks, they're basically what hold the line for rebel troopers.

Another fun OP thing to try is to use defilers with tyber zahn because the defilers can sneak unto any planet with so you just have a stack of 20 of them and then you go to any planet you want to capture and put a defiler in the scout spot and put tyber zahn over the planet you want to capture and you will get a bombardment from tyber's ship. This can allow to capture some planets in campaign mode that you aren't supposed to capture. It's a fun but broken mechanic

Play Battlefront Commander mod - problem solved :D Once I tried it I can never play EaW vanilla again :D Best mod ever. Finishing Clone wars conquest, preparing for Galactic civil war again :) Btw never had problems with Plex t. What always pissed me off in vanilla was when my army of Stormtroopers get annihilated by one artilery vehicle...Every ground battle the same :/ Thats also not a problem in Battlefront commander. Not saying that the mod don't have ballance issues here and there but its 10 times more fun than the original game. Plus it got Deathtroopers, Shoretroopers, Snipers ....

This is why I have been working for the past week on a rebalance mod, instead of changing the AI I have changed the units so when they spam all of one unit their is a counter. For example no fighters or bombers are available, instead you must bring in actual ships with their own fighter/bomber compliment and know when to use them inorder to gain the advantage. On the ground I have removed the plex troops and made the rebel trooper squad have one per squad as well as some of the civilian units. It's a long way from being done however it has fixed this spam one thing problem
