What does the starforge do?

In empire at war remake mod. You can build the starforge at Rataka Prime. What does it do?

It speeds up construction of ships to the point you can build fighters, bombers, corvettes and frigates almost instantly, cruisers in a couple seconds, and capital ships twice as fast as anywhere else.

Oh? I guess the Starforge is not a Unit but a building just like the Star Base or the Gravity Well? I mean it would make sense and it makes sense that it speeds up the unit production speed since it is a giant Factory.

If you did not know the Starforge was in the Knights of the Old Republic game at Rakata Prime or what it was called "Unknown World"
It was used as a giant Factory to create an infinite Empire.. it was destroyed but still it was a good plan.
