First time playing: install mods or keep it vanilla?

Just wondering if there are any QoL mods I should be using on my first playthrough? Or if most of the mods that I see recommended are more for extending the gameplay for experienced players. Sorry if this has been asked a million times already.

Many of the top mods are better than vanilla, from my point of view. The game looks better and more content. I myself never played vanilla, jumped straight to mods.

I enjoyed the campaigns and storys of the Vanilla games but I love the mods alot more!

We all started on the vanilla game. It's still an experience of sorts.

the whole game can be hard even on easy when you get to mid game just cause you are normally juggling to hold your front lines and mods love to really spread players out so whatever you choice dont get mad when you lose alot of planets as long as you have whatever planets you really worked on you can hold on till you get strong enough to push through (mind you i always play with the most planet)

i'd say try first on vannila, then go mods all you like

I played and loved the forces of corruption galactic conquest, but soon enough I got a mod called Star wars battlefront commander I believe (one of the more popular ones) which adds a whole heap to do, and the most recommend things is to play with friends.

There are various problems with mods. And they are not technical. Those mods very often do not provide game balance. They look neat, must be said, but then their graphics aren't practical. People wanted better and more realistic scaling and got that but then either capital ships are too big to easily operate with them or fighters are too small to feel convenient with them. Vanilla is pretty well balanced. I was actually thinking about organizing a tournament, which would be streamed but then it would be played on either standard version of the game or expansion (excluding zann consortium probably).
