I can't image why it wouldn't work... fingers crossed right!
Thanks!
This is a total bummer.
I'm going to try deleting the folder and re-validating and then uninstall/re-install again and see if that works.
I don't know how to delete my past saved games... would anyone mind telling me how to do that?
Any other old files I should try deleting that wouldn't get covered in the uninstall?
Thanks!
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
I'll settle for just getting the basic game working again so the AI doesn't just sit there doing nothing.
The solution? Go into the game files and delete any files under the XML folder(except for gameconstants.xml) in both GameData and corruption then validate the game files through steam and it should replace any lost files needed to run EAW and FOC.
The reason this problem started in the first place was most likely AoTR. Because such mods that use a modified AI will also intergrate new files into the XML folder. Those new files are considered separate from the main mod file so they will stay there even when you uninstall the mod
Simply unistalling the game from steam doesn't actually resolve the problem because it doesn't exactly delete the bad files. You have to manualy delete the tampered files yourself if you want to get anywhere.
I just deleted the AI files in Data/XML folder and it didn't work.
But then I tried validating the game again just in case and it said that all files were fine. On a whim I turned on the game one more time to give it a try before just deleting it and the freaking star destroyer moved again.
Woohoo!
Thanks Captain J, can't thank you enough! I really appreciate it.
I'm going to just stick to Forces of Corruption for a while and enjoy playing what I know works.
Maybe at some point down the road I'll try another Mod.
Do you have any recommendations on a mod to try that isn't quite so finicky as AotR?
Although I can't think of any mods that I can recommend off the top of my head, I'm glad you were able to fix your game. We should definately play together sometime.
Btw, if it means anything, I simply deleted the entire XML file when I was trying to fix my game since I knew validating it on steam should restore the right files anyway. So if you still have any problems try that, it might be another bug with the game.
