STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

My AI folders are gone. Can someone please email them to me?
Please help guys, I tried downloading and playing the AotR mod and somehow it totally jacked up my vanilla game.

Now when I look at the files for EAW and FOC there is no AI files at all in the DATA/XML file for either game. So in other words... the AI just sits there and does nothing.

First I tried deleting the game and reinstalling. Then I tried deleting the AotR mod files and reinstalling the game.

I've tried deleting the XML file and validating with Steam and it just replaces the XML folder with one file called "gameconstants.xml"

I've also tried finding a patch or fix online but absolutely nothing works.

So basically I've tried everything that I can think of.
Would anyone here be willing to email me the complete XML and/or AI folder and contents for both EAW and FOC so that I can try putting the files back in that way?

My email is:
Alextjb99@yahoo.com

I would seriously appreciate it.
Or telling me how I can fix this darn thing and make it work again.

Thank you very much in advance!

ok so good news for you my friend I had the same problem but I was able to fix it. All I can assume is that some sort of bug prevented the AI file from doing its job. Either way I made a copy of the AI file on my desktop before trying to delete it from the game files and validating with steam. When I pasted the file back where it was supposed to be the AI started working again. I'll send you a copy of my file assuming that that will work for you too.

That would be freaking amazing Captain J, I really appreciate it.

I can't image why it wouldn't work... fingers crossed right!

quick question, is this the AI file for Forces of Corruption or Empires at War? Or same for both?

Thanks!

I will be honest Im not entirly sure It was just one AI file I assume it works for both

Damn... I was so excited thinking it would be fixed. Dropped AI files into both Data/XML folders and tried both games but still didn't work.

This is a total bummer.

I'm going to try deleting the folder and re-validating and then uninstall/re-install again and see if that works.

I don't know how to delete my past saved games... would anyone mind telling me how to do that?
Any other old files I should try deleting that wouldn't get covered in the uninstall?

Thanks!

nevermind. found the saved games. Will let everyone know if that plus the reinstall works

Unfortunately the reinstall still did not fix it. Man this really sucks.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I'll settle for just getting the basic game working again so the AI doesn't just sit there doing nothing.

I think I finally understand. To my knowledge I believe that the gameconstants.xml IS in fact the Base AI File. When I said the AI file I used worked last time I later discovered that only FOC actually worked and that the EAW AI was still broken. (turns out my AI file was the reason my AI were broken)

The solution? Go into the game files and delete any files under the XML folder(except for gameconstants.xml) in both GameData and corruption then validate the game files through steam and it should replace any lost files needed to run EAW and FOC.

The reason this problem started in the first place was most likely AoTR. Because such mods that use a modified AI will also intergrate new files into the XML folder. Those new files are considered separate from the main mod file so they will stay there even when you uninstall the mod

Simply unistalling the game from steam doesn't actually resolve the problem because it doesn't exactly delete the bad files. You have to manualy delete the tampered files yourself if you want to get anywhere.

well by god... it worked!!!

I just deleted the AI files in Data/XML folder and it didn't work.
But then I tried validating the game again just in case and it said that all files were fine. On a whim I turned on the game one more time to give it a try before just deleting it and the freaking star destroyer moved again.

Woohoo!

Thanks Captain J, can't thank you enough! I really appreciate it.

I'm going to just stick to Forces of Corruption for a while and enjoy playing what I know works.
Maybe at some point down the road I'll try another Mod.

Do you have any recommendations on a mod to try that isn't quite so finicky as AotR?
Captain J Feb 2, 2018 @ 11:16am
I dont think theres anything finicky with AotR its just any mod that modifies the AI in general that causes this; unfortunately thats just how the game works right now. Also I find that any changes to the files usually takes awhile before the game registers it. Even when I fixed my game it wasn't until the next day when I checked that my multiplayer started working again.

Although I can't think of any mods that I can recommend off the top of my head, I'm glad you were able to fix your game. We should definately play together sometime.

Btw, if it means anything, I simply deleted the entire XML file when I was trying to fix my game since I knew validating it on steam should restore the right files anyway. So if you still have any problems try that, it might be another bug with the game.
